I just bought a sony bravia led kdl46nx800 tv. love the picture, but the thing makes a hoorible crackling noise after the set warms up for about 15minutes. the noise persists intermittantly long after set is on. any ideas? I called sony support and they said that i needed an update for the tv. So I downloaded the new update that they said would fix it. I installed update on set, but problem is still there.

This problems are not tv firmware.Firmware is for basic updating software, never cures hardware problems. This problems is the tv Tuner signal board itself, exchange it to another tv or ask for warrenty repair, just make sure they change the whole tv Tuner signal board. This problems could be anythings in tv Tuner signal board circuitries causing this problems.

Testimonial: "i exchanged the tv for a samsung 46 inch 6500 series. No more crackle noise"

To Achieve a great design and image quality by LED TV`s.
has a new set of materials has been used during the production of these tv sets!

Under heat Up process and cool down of the tv set, these materials will expand/retract together.
Excactly this can be the reason for the "clicking" sound u now is hearing.
Exspecially after the first hour or so.

This Click sound is and phsycial effect of the used technology and is not in any way
    and limitation of the product.

Tv problem

If you're able to see the logo on the screen, it's likely a bad main board.

I got a sony bravia kdl46nx800 led tv and for some reason, there is a green line on the right edge of the screen on certain HD channels and not on regular channels when i watch the shows. it is a common...

Hi, I can't say I've ever seen that happen with that TV before so I'd say it definitely isn't common. I'm pretty sure it's the signal from the HD channels, I'd suggest talking to your cable service provider.

Sony BRAVIA KDL-40W4000

Hi there,

I've been looking into this myself as I've also recently purchased the KDL-40W4000. I was watching a murky old film and was getting a bit of sludgy ghosting but found that by reducing the contrast to 25, setting the backlight on low, colour on neutral and the brightness about 40-60 (and taking ALL advanced noise functions off), this reduced the ghosting considerably.

BUT, this is quite a cool and dark image. If you watch standard TV and films mainly, a variation of the Cinema setting is probably the best overall setting i.e.

backlight: min
contrast: 79
brightness: 50
colour: 53
colour temp: Warm 2 (although Warm 1 is less yellow and still fine)
sharpness: min
noise reduction: off
mpeg nr: off
contrast enhancer: off
colour space: standard

Crackling noise from tv

That crackling noise has nothing to do with the television and everything to do with your antenna. It is merely signal breakdown, when you get signal interference with analogue tv you get snow, with digital you get little squares on the screen and/or sound breaking and cutting in and out, get a licensed antenna repairer to come out check your signal strength as you may need a booster or your antenna could just be a few degrees off....

Also I have a Sony Bravia and it clicks while it is on as well. I read that forum and some people said to disconnect the cable box for 10 sec. and then some said it was the heat from the summer.. i don't know.. I just turned my tv off and then back on and it stoped. I read this is happening with all kinds of TVs....

Sony Bravia KDL-46S2010

Try plugging the coax directly into the T.V. or from you VCR or DVD player then to the TV. The bravia sets also have various picture mode settings as you will discover when you go through your manual. Cable boxes or splitters can cause problems also is they are not of good quality. I love my 40.
