Don't play with this. When you hear that sound, you are in the HD Time Bomb mode. That click sound is the kiss of death & means your hard drive can die at any moment.
Once it does fail, it is a major pain to get your data off a dead drive. Most shops gouge you & charge a very high fee to get the data off a dead drive. There is some software sold that can retrieve the data from a dead drive, which would be a less expensive way to go than a computer store or repair shop.
Get the data off the HD now while you still can and it is running.
I have burned through 5 Western Digital My Books - they are terribly unreliable. Let me tell you there is no worse Tech Support than WD. Forget it if your WD equipement fails -their Tech Support is absolutley the worst.
WD should not even have a HD Tech Support Department, just have rote answers to any question a customer may ask about trouble they are having with their HD. That is about as good as it gets at WD HD Tech Support when your drive fails. They stink so bad, it isn't even funny.
I have given up on WD and avoid them at all cost because I have been ripped off so many times and 6 dead WD External HD's approximately 2500 GB of data gone. WD Tech Support is awful and the absolute worst.
If your WD External is running and one of the cords accidentally pulls out particularly the power cord - it can fry your drive. Even though WD is one of the biggest HD Mfg (this might stand for something else if your WD drive goes down) - they are unreliable at best.
WD has bought up some other better Mfg's but have kept the old brand badge. Hitachi is now owned by WD, but makes a way superior drive in all classes & series than WD while costing less and are way more reliable. The components are not made or assembled by WD.
Toshiba & WD made a deal where some of WD's HD manufacturing is done by Toshibia in Thailand. WD can only go up with this move, but I will never give them another shot at my HD business.
Seagate now owns Samsung Hard Drive business.
There are many off brand HD's like Hitachi and Samsung that are as good or better than the major brand leaders and you can get a lot more value for your money. I have several Hatachi and Samsung HD's and have had no problems.

The Mfg warranties run, 1, 2 & 3 years. They only gaurantee the repair or replacement of the HD, not the data retrieval part.
It is much better to get an internal drive, buy an separate external case with a fan, so it will keep your External HD unit cool and less likely to fail.
I like the Rosewill single and dual units sold by Newegg.com. They are on sale a lot and are a great deal compared to the much more expensive cases. The Rosewills' are inexpensive, very reliable and dependable. I have never had any of my external drives fail since I bought a separate internal HD and installed in into a Rosewill case with a fan.
So if you go through NewEgg.com, it is worth the extra investment to get an extended warranty. You will be able to exchange the drive but may lose your data.
Newegg.com has at least one internal HD on special each week.
Always read the reviews and some forums before buying any of these drives. The HD data storage unit pricing have gone down dramatically but the quality is still shaky particularly on WD.
Do not ever buy a Green External HD . They talk a good game about power saving, but they are slow on data transfer, are terribly unreliable, and almost sure to mess up or fry. Protect the envoiroment some other way but don't put your data at risk.
Never buy an External HD without a fan, no matter what the Mfg literature claims about cooling capacity or natural cooling ability by the high tech design. Just don't do it, unless you like being a Sap ******, Guinea Pig, enjoy losing your data, going through hassles and finding out the hard way.

If your space bar isn't responding when you press it, or if it responds sluggishly, it's possible that you have inadvertently enabled the "Sticky Keys" or "Filter Keys" accessibility option in Windows.
When these options are enabled, your keyboard response time will be dramatically slowed and may require more than one tap to register a keystroke.
Fortunately, it's easy to disable these functions and return your keyboard to normal working order.
Click "Start" and select "All Programs."
Click "Accessories" and select "Ease of Access."
Click "Ease of Access Center."
Click "Make Keyboard Easier to Use."
Click "Set Up Sticky Keys." Deselect the checkbox that says "Turn on Sticky Keys When Shift is Pressed Five Times." Make sure the box that says "Turn on Sticky Keys" is not checked. Click "OK" to save your changes.

PS3 Clicking noise is associated with the hardware aspect, so that's your starting point it may come from the PS3 fan clicking, so do check out the fan if there's something that might have got stucked in between. Clogs from too much dust or dirt may also cause PS3 clicking sound.
PS3 clicking noise may also come from the hard drive. The hard drive are a bit noisy because of the mechanical parts and moving drive head when reading and storing data. Again, if the noise level is very minimal, there's no worry. PS clicking noise fro the hard drive that becomes too audible may signify that the hard drive is having mechanical problems and may soon broke down. At this point you may want to backup any data you have
