Red light indicates the lamp has failed to light. You may just need to buy a new lamp. If that does not help then the capacitors on PWB-Power need to be replaced or the lamp ballast itself has gone bad.

Trying to replace lamp in HDTV and having trouble. Does not function correctly after putting in new bulb. Boots up and then visuals go black and the green power light keeps flashing. Help?

Panasonic DLP TV Bulbs

Make sure its an original Osram or Philips bulb inside the housing. If its a cheap lamp it will act this way. If it is an original lamp, then you may have a power supply issue. It shouldn't affect your TV but you may want to try resetting the lamp timer by following the instructions that came with the lamp.

TY-LA1001 Timer reset

While pressing the VOL- button on the projection display, hold down the number 0 button on the remote control at the same time for more than 5 seconds.

The "lamp" light keeps blinking red. Does this

The lamp life becomes 0%, when used
for approximately 4,000 hours with "Eco
Mode" or when used for approximately
2,000 hours with "Standard Mode" (see
page 43).
When the remaining lamp life becomes
5% or less, " " (yellow) will be displayed
on the screen. When the percentage becomes
0%, " " will change to " " (red),
the lamp will automatically turn off and
then the projector will automatically enter
the standby mode. At this time, the
lamp indicator will illuminate in red.
If you try to turn on the projector a fourth
time without replacing the lamp, the projector
will not turn on.

SOUND WORKS BUT SCREEN STAYS BLANK/BLACK AND LAMP LIGHT STAYS ON CONSTANTLY I CHANGED THE LAMP AND THE RED LAMP LIGHT STAYS ON AND PICTURE STILL BLANK

Replacing lamps can be tricky. Make sure that the lamp is securely installed and you have returned all screws to their same position. Double check latches and doors; if they are not secured properly then the lamp sensor will not recognize that the lamp has been changed. Also, refer to your manual for lamp replacement procedure you may be required to press a series of buttons on the remote or TV control panel to reset the lamp.

When i turn on my 50 " dlp it will stay on for about a minute then the screen goes black but the volume stays on. The red light by the power button then comes on. What do I need to do?

brad amie bi,

It certainly sounds like the lamp needs replaced. If your unit is more than 3 years old I would bet on it. I have a tip at http://www.fixya.com/support/r4168009-change_lamp_in_dlp_projection_tv which addresses all the problems of replacement and also where to get a quality lamp at a good price.

Thanks for using FixYa and for the great rating.

Red light status stays on, no screen....unplug for one minute then tv comes back on.....this has happened a few times...what is up?

If the red light is the lamp light then the projector lamp is defective.

Red lamp light stays light

I doubt that it is the optical assy. it sounds more like a chassis problem either on the DM or the FMT board.

check out www.tv-techs.com
if it is a chassis problem it will cost about $250.00 plus shipping one way to fix the chassis
