Hi lantzgema,
I looked up the specs of your d530 and all I could find out is that you have a 150 power supply, calling HP technical support was no help at all.
I did find some pinouts you can look at and determine which one exactly you have. Hope this help out.

If this is still not what you have there are other pinouts at the same website.

Finally I would add that in these manuals, which my not contain the info you want (I should download or save the pdfs to your computer anyway), HP have lumped together q few models and even more motherboards so to me it's not clear which HP part number belongs to your PC. I would that (be careful here) mant motherboards have the same connector header pin-outs, but HP don't tell you what they - only a third party would do this.

Model D3057F3H Want to use it to power a car radio. What is the on / off connection and what is the 12V out let than can handle 5amp

Check the label on the power supply for the current rating on 12 volts.
The +12 volt is the yellow colored wire and the black is the ground.
To turn on the switch mode power supply connect pin 14 (for a 20pin connector) or pin 18 (for a 24pin connector) to ground.
You can use a switch so you can turn the power supply ON and OFF.

Please click on this link for diagrams of the 20 and 24 connector pinouts :-

Need the schematic to plug in the power connectors

This link http://www.helpwithpcs.com/courses/power-supply-basics-inc-pinouts.htm

is a great page for the standard ATX pinout and related info.
WARNNING dell's and some other psu's have a different layout.
If you look onto the power supply box, you will see a modle like
ATX130p3, google this with "pinout".

Power Supply

Yes it can be done. Just with a bigger power supply comes more cables.
And with a mini tower, it could get crowded inside your computer.
