Vizio LCD 47" switching channels takes very long

Has it always done this since you purchased it? Check the response time online for that TV, it may just be that it is a model with poor response time when changing channels. I've seen some value brand TVs that seem to take a full second or more to switch and go blue/black in between while switching.

Very painful to channel surf like that, so if you have a cable box etc hooked up use that for surfing channels instead if you can't handle the wait.

defective tac switch on the manual channel button, it is found inside under the button, this causes the program to change channel because the connection of the switch is shorted..normally it should be N.O. (normally open)...try to replace a new tac switch..

I have no front control panel working and changes channels

The front controls are called Tac Switches. They have a tendency of becoming corroded and sending erroneous commands to the micro. You can disconnect the lead coming from the control panel to the chassis and see if it quits. If it does, that answers your question. If you decide to replace them all, try Encompassparts.com

Sharp 32f540 switching input channels

Ladythree,

the problem for your unit is the manual button switches. In the long time it wasnt used. it got stucked and somewhat rusted. This problem can best be addressed by replacing the buttons switches(tac switch).
this should solve your problem.

Volume control problem

The MX50X1 uses a series of tac switches for ch+/- vol+/- and power. It would be my first suspect. The vol- tac switch may have become thermal or what we in the industry refer to as the windex syndrome. We see this a lot on direct view TVs usually because the switching board is directly below the screen and every time someone cleans the screen with windex an trace amount of the fluid might drip all the way down to the board and invade one or more of the tac switches. This isn't the only reason a tac switch goes bad or becomes thermal sometimes it just simply fails... Tac switches are cheap (less than $2.00) but the labor to put them in is probably one shop hour. Find a good shop and have them do it - - If you're not sure where to find one goto: http://www.nesda.com/locator/state_search.php and start your research from there... Good Luck Bill PS: Impress the shop you call and tell them you think your TV has developed the windex syndrome. They'll probably think you know a lot more than you do about TV repair. :)
