I'd give it a 1 thumb. Person said seal looks OK and appliance is only 6 years old. I'm not familiar with the brand or a repairman but I am smart enough a tinkerer to check the web and also look at the latch mechanism. The mechanism is the obvious prime candidate. It is probably adjustibale and noted in owners manual. If problem can't be adjusted out, then eith the latching mechanism or the item it latches to has failed. If the damage itsn't easily fixed it will likely be easier both time, money and sanity wise to just buy new parts and know it will be right for several years to come. However 6 years doesnt' bode well for the product.

how old is your model you have. a weak pump will make the system slower to get to temp even a broken seal can do this. even just a few mil gap can make it do this. if you close the door then re-open it it should be harder to open the door. this is the seal being nice and tight to its fittings.

Door was not sealed tightly for about a day resulting in some frost inside freezer. Door appears to be closed but door ajar light is still lite and alarm is still beeping. What do I need to check?

The door seal has a magnetic property to it. Until the freezer gets to a certain degree the magnetic porperties of the door seal dont react properly. Make sure the door seal is properly adjusted. If the door was left open it could have semi warped the door. This gets corrected when temp drops to correct temp. Reset freezer by unplugging and waiting for a few minutes. If problem persist contact appliance technician.

If you have any more questions you can comment me back.

Sub zero freezer door no longer vacuum seals when the door closes. There is nothing obstructing the door.

Make certain that the freezer fan motor is operable. Otherwise, contact an appliance service company.

Freezer door has a gap in the middle. Seal doesn't

Put a long straight edge on the door to verify a warp. A 4 foot level is good for this test.
If the door is in fact warped. You should pull back on the seal, loosen the screws behind the seal holding the door liner in place, adjust the door to the straight edge and re-tighten the screws.
If the straight edge does not show a warped door, take a hair dryer and heat the seal where it is off the frame. Do this with the door closed and you will see the seal relax and touch the frame. Let it cool in this position before opening the door again.
If neither of these is the cause, loosen the door hinge and re-adjust the door position, then re-tighten the hinge screws.

Ev201nxm door doesn't seal/ices up

I have a EVL201NXRQ05 upright whirlpool. It was purchased in Nov 2008 in the Summer of 2009 the gasket was leaking at the top of the door. The gasket on this door snaps into place (no hardware needed). The problem is the door was bowed in the middle pulling the gasket down and away from the metal frame of the freezer - to the point the magnets in the gasket would not touch in the middle of the opening. I requested a new door while under warrantry. The door did not appear to be repairable it is a glued/foamed-inplace assembly. The new door looked straight when I installed it last summer and now it is bowed but not yet leaking. Whirlpool has a design / manufacture problem with this door design. I have received an extended warranty option from Whirlpool this past week 4 months after the factory warranty has expired. I suspect they know they have any issue, but not much is written about it. I may end up buying the extended warranty, but first I'm going to where I bought it to complain.

Chest type freezer icing up real bad

I quick way to test the door seal is take a dollar bill close the door on it if you can pull the dollar out with little resistance the seal needs to be replaced. That is what I am thinking is wrong with unit.

Frost in the freezer

IS IT ICE OR FROST? IF IT IS ICE, THE DOOR MAY HAVE BEEN LEFT CRACKED OPEN.
IF IT IS FROST, IS THIS A FROST FREE FREEZER?
IF YES, IS THE FROST ON THE BACK WALL?
IF YES, THERE IS A DEFROST FAILURE AND YOU WILL NEED TO TROUBLESHOOT THE DEFROST CIRCUIT.
IF THE FROST IS ON THE FOOD OR AROUND THE DOOR OPENING, A SEAL LEAK HAS ALLOWED WARM MOIST AIR INTO THE FREEZER AND CREATED THE FROST. CHECK THE DOOR SEAL FOR A GAP WHEN CLOSED.

Frost in Kenmore frost free

Although you say the seal is fine, this is almost certainly due to air getting in. With the door closed check that there isn't a tiny gap with a strip of thin card or plastic. Of course if air is getting in then it must also be getting out somewhere else so probe all around the seal.
