Question about Sunbeam 5891 Bread Maker

Open Question

Perhaps this question is early...I got the Sunbeam 5891-33 as a Christmas present and am trying to make a first loaf. What confused me when unpacking the machine is that the lid does not seem to FIT at the back. I can see and feel about a 1/4 inch gap between the lid and the body of the machine, only at the back. We have looked at the design from all angles- and we cannot get a real picture in the manual or on the box. Is this a working part of the design to let steam escape? There are vent holes all over the place- so why would a little gap be necessary? I have just started a first white bread cycle- but am so curious that I had to get to the net and ask other owners or experts if I have been shipped a faulty product.

just bought one. it also have a big gap between the lid and the body of unit (when looking at the back of the machine with the lid closed). Did you find out if that is the design ? Is the machine working OK for you?

SOURCE: dense bread

Try a different recipe--highly recommend The Bread Machine Cookbook by Melissa Clark it may be out of print, but can order from Amazon for less than $3.00. Also, if your bread is too dense, you can try adding a little wheat gluten flour, found in the baking section at most large grocery stores, including Walmart. However, a little of this goes a long way! I never need to add to my white bread, but it is wonderful for whole grain breads as it greatly improves the texture. Wheat gluten is made from the inside of the wheat kernel and is very high in protein, also helps your bread rise, so try starting with one teaspoon for your white bread and use up to one fourth of a cup with whole grain breads. A little of this stuff goes a long way!!!! Do read the introduction in the little paperback cookbook I recommended, it really helped me to understand the hows and whys of breadbaking, and I had to throw away many a loaf, before I read this section of the cookbook.

SOURCE: HHH Error Code

Generally, an HHH error code means the machine is sitll too hot from making the previous loaf. Keep the door open for a bit and allow it to cool down.

Why does my Sunbeam 5891 bread maker reset itself a few minutes into baking a loaf ?

If you have another setting, try that and see if it works without reset.

Error code E:02 on Sunbeam Bakehouse BM3500S

That is a temperature warning that is an automatic feature on bread machines. What the machine is telling you is that the oven chamber is still too hot from baking the last loaf. It does that to prevent you from starting another loaf and having that loaf fail due to the high heat killing the yeast. If you want to bake more than one loaf push the STOP button till it beeps, unplug the machine, raise the lid, and leave it open for no less than 20 minutes. It should work fine by then if not let cool off another 10 minutes. It will be cool enough by ½ an hour to start another one.

I have a Sunbeam Convection Bakehouse model BM005 and the bread pan sticks all the time so badly that is it impossible to get the loaf out without mutilating it. What can I do?

We have one and used it for years. What we found works is to take the kneading plate out before it starts cooking. Do this after the beeps to let you know when to add fruit, and the kneading has finished.
This also saves bread as you do not loose a bug chunk in the bottom. Our pan is not very good any more, but we can still get the loaf out without any problems. Just need to let it cool for about 10 minutes out of the machine before attempting to take the loaf out if it is stuck.
