hi, You have to check the power supply of you tv for any voltage missing. also check the back light inverter board for any short circuit in it. Inverter transformers in the back lightcontrolling board can become faulty.Three blink indicate the power supply have some problem. First of all replace all the electrolytic capacitors in the power supply board. If filter capacitors in the power supply is bad then this problem can occur. ok

I have a Philips model number 50PL9220D/37 and it turns off after about 30 seconds and a red light on the left hand side of the power button comes on. Not sure what to do.
The TV needs to be connected to its tuner box in order for it to fire up properly. In fact, with the TV in standby (red light), by switching on the tuner box a control signal is sent up the cable and the TV switches on fully.
Commonly it's going to be a power supply related problem. The two boards that need to be looked at is the Main Power Supply Board or the power supply board for the screen. The one that powers the screen, some manufactures call it a Backlight Inverter Board.

Hey habo, The red light you are referring to most likely is the power indicator light. On many newer TV's this light will appear red when the TV is off or in "standby" mode, and green when the TV is in operation. Please keep in mind that some TV models may use the power indicator light to notify owners of ay potential hardware problems as well, so you may wish to refer to your owner's manual documentation if you have been encountering any problems during TV operation.
