I just bought this as a gift for my husband on our anniversary. The day I bring it home the belt falls off and as we desperately try many ways to get it back on...the turn table spinner doesn't turn now! I just got this today off a private owner who wasn't much help. I wanted a gift not a project so if you have any suggestions on how to get this up and running it would be more than appreciated!!
1) Remove the platter - just lift up
2) Underneath the platter, you'll see a small lip section
3) Wrap the belt around this lip
4) Put platter back on turntable
5) Rotate platter until you see the motor shaft through the holes on the platter - a brass round looking piece
6) Pinch the belt around the motor shaft.
7) That's it.

I had the same problem with my 98 voyager that I bought used a year ago, my mechanic suggested to replace the serpentine belt due to visible wear, three days later, it fall off again, this time the mechanic, suggested replacing the belt tensioner, that fixed the problem for good.
It sounds like the belt is too worn and loose to stay on. Buy a new belt specified for that model of vacuum and install. Ensure that there is only a slight amount of give in the belt when you press the middle.
Hi. Make sure the flywheel turns freely and that the capstan pin and pressure roller are clean. If this is OK then it is more than likely that the belt is stretched, dried out or generally worn. These parts only have a certain usable life and are quite cheap to replace.
Without the model number, I can't supply the belt number or size. These belts do stretch over time. If we can find the correct one, the belt shouldn't be more than $8-$10. If you aren't far from Lancaster, there is a flea market there that has a repair booth. You can try there as well.
