Same thing is happening to my n2020. Tried multiple sets of batteries, however something is stopping it from getting power to the camera. Neither the LEDs or the autofocus system is working.

"Turn the on knob"? You turn on the N2020 by lightly pressing the shutter release button. Do the meter indicator LEDs inside the viewfinder light up when you lightly press the shutter release button?

The off and on button seems to have quit operating. It needed new batteries. We installed them and then we are unable to turn the camera on.

As a first step towards resolving your issue, we recommend you restore
the camera's default settings. You can reset all of the menu and button
operation settings to default except for Date/Time, Language, and Video
System. To reset these settings, please follow these steps:

1. Take the memory card and battery out of the camera for 20 minutes.

2. Please use a clean pencil eraser to rub the contacts on the battery.
Please do not store the batteries in the camera for travel. The
batteries will discharge even if the camera is not powered on.

3. Place a fresh (or fully recharged) battery in the camera.

4. Turn the camera on.

5. Put the camera in picture taking mode. Ensure the display is on.

I changed my batteries, but I am still not getting anything when I turn my camera on.

If you can use external power source, try and see if the camera takes pictures. If it does, try cleaning the battery contacts.
If both external and battery power do not take pictures, then something is is wrong inside the camera.

WHEN I WANT TAKE A PICTURE, MY CAMERA TURN OFF, AND DONT SAVE NOTHING?

It sounds to me that you're using the wrong kind of batt. or there is something preventing the batt. from working correctly.
It requires quite a lot of batt to generate a picture, so please follow these steps.

Here are the steps:
1. Make sure you will install a new or fully charged battery/batteries into your camera. Please use lithium batteries Ni-Mh or rechargeable Batteries (2000 M.Amp or higher).
2. Clean the battery contacts.
a. Remove the battery/batteries and the memory card from your camera, then wipe the battery contacts with a soft, clean cloth.
b. Reinstall the battery/batteries into your camera
3. Turn on your camera without the memory card.

Shutter will not open and close. I know it needs cleaning. Need to find a repair service. I live in Eri, Pa.

first, remove batteries and clean battery cap and contacts including cap threads. with a pencil eraser. Turn all select knobs on top of camera 3 or 4 times back and forth. to remove any oxide build up on the contacts.
for repair service, any camera repair shop can clean your camera, and adjust systems. however there are no new parts for this model so if good used parts are needed it could be expensive.

Hi, turning on & it keeps opening then shutting the lense won't stay on. Got new batteries

There may be something more serious wrong with the camera, but the problem you describe is frequently due to weak/wrong batteries or corrosion on the battery contacts inside the camera. Make sure that your new batteries are the correct type for the camera and that they are fully charged. If all seems OK with the batteries, remove them and wipe the camera contacts firmly with a clean dry cloth (heavy corrosion may require cleaning with a wire brush, steel wool, or sandpaper). Remove any residue that may have fallen into the battery compartment during the cleaning, wipe both ends of the batteries with the cloth, and reinsert them into the camera. This clears the problem about 90% of the time - I hope it works for you.
