Hi,

There are four common categories of solutions to remove or reset a BIOS password and here are the details on how to go about resetting your BIOS password.

Manufacturer Backdoor BIOS Password

Most of the BIOS makers have set a backdoor password on the older computer models. That is the master password for BIOS. To reset BIOS passwords first you need to check the manufacturer of your computer's BIOS. Most computers have BIOS include AMI,
IBM, Award, and Phoenix. These are the most common BIOS. You can unlock your locked BIOS using this master password. It works, no matter what the user sets the password to. Many popular computer and laptop manufacturers such as HP and DELL lock the BIOS because they want to protect their machine's most sensitive areas (those areas which have warranty) from their customers. These passwords are usually used by computer technicians for testing and repairing.

Reset the jumper that holds the password

Open the computer and locate on the motherboard the BIOS password jumper. The jumper is usually jumper 1 and often labeled as PSWD, PWD, CLRPWD, CLEAR, JCMOS1, CLR, CLEAR CMOS, PASSWD, or PASSWORD. Normally you would have 3 pins and to reset the password you just need to put the jumper on the 2 and 3 pins leaving pin 1 empty. After you move the jumper, turn the computer on to clear the password, then once password removed turn it off and put the jumper back to its original position.

Removing the CMOS Battery to reset the BIOS to default

Switch off your computer, and open up the case. You'll see a circular metallic silver item on motherboard. This is called CMOS Battery. Remove it carefully, and leave it out for about 2 minutes. This act will remove the CMOS memory which contains BIOS password. Set the CMOS battery back and switch on the computer. Restore the CMOS configuration as default. Your BIOS password has been cleared now.

Using third party software utility to reset BIOS password

To reset BIOS you can use third party software like Kill CMOS which wipes out CMOS, or CmosPwd which is a BIOS utility. Hiren's Boot CD has a few programs including the above two that will help you to reset the password. Here is a link to Hirens Boot CD website http://www.hirensbootcd.org/. To download the latest version, click on the Download link on the left side and go to the last page. You will need a CD writer to put the content on a blank CD.

Please let me know whether this works or not.

I have accessed my cogeco emails on my Acer tablet but it is not showing any of my emails, also I cannot access the internet

Hi
If you can't get emails, and can't get onto the Internet, then you are not connected to a WiFi access point. To connect to a WiFi system, you may need 3 pieces of information:
A username
A password
An encryption key
Once you have successfully linked to a WiFi access point then your tablet will remember the settings until told to forget them.
A lot of the time you may only need the encryption key, and if the tablet detects a WiFi access point then if you tap on that in wireless settings then it will either connect automatically or ask you for some sort of code - the encryption key. If this is not entered correctly then it will return an authentication problem/error. In order to connect you have to have this code.
Some public WiFi access points are not encrypted, and you therefore do not need an encryption key, but these sites are insecure.
I you are trying to use a mobile broadband service you will need an appropriate SIM card in the Iconia and a contract, (monthly pat or pay-as-you-go) including a data allowance from your Service Provider.
You will also need a username and password to get onto your emails on the cogeco website, but presumably you already know these as you probably access your emails from a PC using these anyway.
Finally, if you go to this web page:
Drivers and Manuals
you can download manuals and drivers for a very wide range of Acer products.
There are various ways to select your model but I have found it easiest to use the selection options >Group >Series >Products.
This brings up a page with tabs part way down for
•Driver
•Documents
•BIOS
•Patch
•Application
•O.S.
Obviously documents is the one you want for a manual and by clicking on it you can download it to your computer in pdf format to read with Adobe Acrobat Reader and store for future reference.
Hope this is helpful, if so would you please register that with Fixya
Cheers

Reset bios 4052lci cmos 2310

Your computer's BIOS screen can be incredibly useful when you need to make certain hardware or system configurations.
How to access the BIOS on your laptop varies from manufacturer to manufacturer and model to model.
Even though Acer laptops are created by the same manufacturer, not all models access BIOS in the same manner.
While accessing the BIOS setup screen in and of itself is not difficult all you need to do is press a key the difficulty is in figuring out which key to hit.
Restart or power on the laptop.
Hit the "Pause/Break" key the moment the Acer boot screen (not the OS start-up screen) appears.
If the OS start-up screen appears before you can hit Pause/Break, you will need to restart the laptop.

Press "F2" or "Del" to access the BIOS set-up screen.
Depending on the age of your Acer laptop, you may need to instead press "Ctrl," "Alt" and "Esc" simultaneously to access BIOS.
Using the arrow keys navigate failsafe or optimized defaults press F10 to safe to cmos and exit to restart.
