While booting up it must be giving you an option to enter the cmos setup with hitting either f8 key or del key or f10 key. Just hit the key at the appropriate time and enter the advance setup in the cmos setup and go to boot devices and select the priority you wish. In some cases the hard drive and cd rom have jumper settings for putting them in master and slave mode. just read on the drive label and set your cd rom to master and your hdd to slave and you will be able to boot through cd and instal windows.

Windows 200o pinstallation problem on intel 945 motherboard

I think that this can be bypassed on a per boot basis (press F7) on the boot where it asks you to press f8 if there is any problems. (before win2k flash screen)

you can get round this by updating your motherboard's BIOS

To upgrade your bios you need to follow the online instructions carefully.  (mis flashing your BIOS  can stop your board from loading at all)

FOR BOARD D945GCZ!!! WARNING  IF THIS IS NOT YOUR BOARD DO NOT CONTINUE AS THE FILES WILL BE WRONG!!!!

To upgrade to the latest bios  you first need to upgrade to ver 1788 (you cannot go direct to the latest version.. if your current BIOS Version is already 1788 you can skip this

please read and follow the instructions on this page http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=N&Inst=Yes&ProductID=2063&DwnldID=9165&strOSs=19&OSFullName=Windows*+2000&lang=eng
one this is completed you can upgrade to the latest version here
