WHY IS MY LG GAS DRYER NOT ADVANCING TO COOL DOWN CYCLE?

If its a newer dryer, they have moisture sensors that determine if it should shut down early or stay on longer if needed. Let it run the extra time and see what happens. If it keeps doing it, then the sensor is defective.

Hi, I turned off my house's main switch while the dryer cycle was going on. Now the dryer doesn't turned on after the power is back. Do I need some type of reset to get it turned on?

Check the circuit breaker for the dryer itself, one side of it may have tripped. Turn the dryer's breaker off, wait a moment, then turn it back on.

If the dryer was in the middle of a heating cycle, rather than a cool down cycle, then the heat coming off the element may have caused the thermal switch in the dryer to open since the fan / blower wasn't running. Usually, this switch will reset itself, but not all will.

Removing the back panel of the dryer, with the power cord UNPLUGGED and breaker TURNED OFF (Just in case), you should see 1 or 2 limit switches. They will likely appear to have brown or dark housings, and will be round or slighly diamond shaped. Use a multimeter to check for continuity across the switch. If the dryer is cold, you should have continuity. If you don't have continuity, then replace the thermal switch.

My dryer will run for about 20 minutes and then shut itself off. I cannot turn it back on for at least an hour as the 'done' buzzer will buzz and the dryer will not turn back on. Does anyone have any...

If it happens during the auto-drying cycle, the moisture sensor could be faulty.

If it happens during the timed cycle, the operating thermostat may be faulty. A faulty operating thermostat can fail to turn the heaters off and allow the dryer to get too hot. When this happens, the high limit thermostat will turn off the machine. After it cools down, it will start again.

Kenmore Gas Dryer Gets Hot, Shuts Off Early in Cycle

Sounds like a faulty high limit or cycling thermostat. The thermostat tells the dryer to heat until the interior of the dryer reaches a certain temp. It should be mounted on the exhause duct inside the back of the dryer. It should look something like the one in the picture:

Heats and runs, but not long enough to dry clothes; then would not turn on and run at all. maybe dryer ''thinks'' clothes are dry?

Hi, After the dryer shuts off, can you restart it right away or does it need to cool down before restarting? If it needs to cool down for a bit, the motor is going bad. If the dryer is running a full cycle but not completely dry, check your venting to the outside and make sure it is clean.
If this is a gas dryer, the coils on top the gas valve might be shutting down early and not reopening later in the heat cycle.
I hope this gives you some direction. Please let me knwo if I can assist you further on this problem

Electric heating elment.

Somewhat,

I have a ref. thermometer, round metal type I got a Wal-Mart that I check the dryer temp at the discharge. I bent the metal bottom so I can lodge it in the discharge pipe, turn the dryer on and watch the temp. Normally on high heat it will go up to 140-150 and cool down to 120-125 then cycle back on.

Dryer wont run for long

After unplugging the dryer, disassemble and clear motor of all lint build up. Motor will overheat and cycle on the thermal protector if this is the case. Secondly, a malfunctioning centrifugal switch, shorted motor windings, or tight bearings could all cause this failure. A restricted vent could cause this in some dryer designs.
