Is the plug that you connect the adapter to still properly connected to the mo bo? If not, the adapter will not work nor will it properly charge the battery. Bet that if you charge that battery to another working laptop your new battery will take a charge.

it could be a couple things: Are you using the standard 90 Watt ac adapter, or the Travel auto/Air adapter. The travel adapter is only 65 watts can will charge the battery
If using the standard ac adapter, see if you can try another Dell D series adapter and see if you get the same error.
If same with another adapter, the issue is the charging circuit. If another adapter works, then replace the adapter.
If the charging circuit is bad, it will be the chargerboard or if intergrated, the motherboard

First you try to charge a fine battery with your adapter to confirm the adapter is good or not.

Then use the good adapter to charge your battery to confirm the battery is dead or not.

You should change your adapter or battery.

This is true, you will not be able to charge the battery without the correct charger. For mostly all laptops, when the charger is not maintaining a charge, it is time for a new one. However, it does not have to be the manufacturer's adapter, but I recommend purchasing the battery made for the Compaq Presario M2000 Notebook.

i think your laptop needs 90watt adapter because of that its not charging.....

Order the original adapter from JVC. The adapter supplies the correct current requirements to operate the battery charge circuit. JVC's web site is JVC.COM.
