How to replace ink absorber canon mx310

Hello,

Unfortunately this is not an end user item. The ink absorber is basically a big felt pad. When the printer cleans the print heads at the beginning of the print cycle it spray ink on the pad o clean the printhead nozzles. The printer is programmed to count these cleaning cycles and when the number is up it gives the ink absorber error on the display. The printers use the ink absorber to prevent the used ink from dripping out of the printer onto you table or desk. By the time the absorber registers that it is full it really is soaking wet with ink, you don't want to deal with that mess. It really is like an end of life for the printer notification. You would have to open the printer, remove and wash the absorber and clean the holder then reset the counter in the printer just to get t going again. The manufacturers don't even sell the absorbers because they treat this as a non-repairable printer. Sorry for the news but I have been a printer tech for 15 years and that's really the best thing to do, get a replacement printer.

My pixma ip1980 ink absorber is full. how to change or clean manually?

You can't. Here is what Canon says on their website:

Ink Absorber Replacement Options This printer has an ink absorber that takes in ink during the printing and print head cleaning processes. The cleaning process is necessary in order to keep the print head nozzles from becoming clogged. Over the life of the printer, the amount of ink that the ink absorber has absorbed is calculated by the printer. Eventually, after substantial use, the printer will enter an error condition when the ink absorber is nearly full. At this point, printing is still possible by pressing the <Resume> button on the printer. To protect the printer from damage, you will not be able to print at all once the ink absorber is full.
Canon recommends having the printer serviced before the absorber becomes full. We are aware that there are many "do-it-yourself" Web sites that offer instructions for making this repair. Replacing the ink absorber is a complicated and potentially messy procedure. Even if the ink absorber is successfully changed, the ink absorber counter must be reset. Be aware that if you attempt this procedure, it is at your own risk.

Solution: Reset the printer
Resetting the Printer By resetting the printer's power, the print buffer is cleared and certain sensors are reset. If there is invalid data in the buffer, or sensors are stuck in a particular mode; errors may occur. Follow these steps to reset the printer:
  1. Turn the printer off with the Power button (if available).

  2. Disconnect the data cable from the printer (not applicable to WiFi, Bluetooth or Infrared) .

  3. Unplug the printer's power cord for approximately 10 minutes, and then plug it back in. If troubleshooting a communication issue, reconnect the data cable (not applicable to WiFi, Bluetooth or Infrared).

  4. Turn the printer back on.
Note: If resetting the printer does not work, please attempt any other solutions that appeared in your search results. If this is a hardware error on the printer, the printer may need to be repaired.

The ink absorber is full and printer won't print.

Normally when you get the "ink absorber is full" message, you would take machine to a Canon service center. They will either clean the ink absorbers or more than likely they will replace the ink absorbers. After replacement, the ink absorber full message will have to be reset which is done in the service mode.

No repair is available. There is a little tray under where the cartridges rest and when the printer does a cleaning cycle, it squirts some ink into it. Eventually, the ink builds up and when the tray is full, it's time to change printers. Here is what Canon says:

Personally, I wouldn't do it myself, I'd inquire w/ Canon about how much it would cost to have it done first...
