SOURCE: GOGEAR SA 3345/37 - Computer is not recognizing player as a player

The 5125 recognizes copyright-encryption and has an Audiobook feature

The 3345 does not recognize copyright-encryption, and does not support audiobooks - if you want some laughs - the file system in the 3345 has an Audible folder, but the player does not recognize Audible - it was a design fluke

Philips 2008 models are a step down for the 2007 models, if you ask me

SOURCE: how should i connect philips gogear mp3 player to the computer

Software is available from Philips website.

Triple Reset for Philips’ GoGear:

Disconnect the Go Gear from computer. Press the reset pinhole until the player turns off. Hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard. If this pop-up does not appear, reset the player again WHILE connected to the computer. Open the Philips Device Manager, and go to Repair Tab. Reset the player one more time while connected to computer. Follow the repair instructions.

After repair is complete, upgrade the firmware for this player. Will erase all the songs, but you should be good to go again.

I want to get music on my mp3 player

After you sync your music collection to a Philips GoGear MP3 player with Windows Media Player, your favorite tunes will always be with you. Backing up your music collection on an MP3 player requires only a USB cable and a computer. Follow these steps to find out how easy it is.
jQuery('.intro .thumbnail').each(function(i,e){ jQuery(e).find('img').one('error',function(){ jQuery(e).remove(); }); }); Difficulty: Moderately Easy Instructions Things You'll Need:

  • Philips GoGear MP3 player
  • Computer
  1. Plug in the Philips GoGear to your computer. Use a USB cable to make the connection so you can begin synchronizing your music collection.
  2. Start Windows Media Player. Depending on how your computer is set up, this program may start automatically when you make the connection with the MP3 player.
  3. Find the Sync tab in the media player window. Click on this tab and open the Sync screen. The Sync screen has two panes. The left pane is for the music collection on your computer; the right pane is for the Philips GoGear.
  4. Choose the songs from your collection that you want to add to the GoGear's memory. Check the boxes that are presented by each song title.
  5. Click the "Start Sync" button. The files from your computer are being copied onto your GoGear MP3 player.
  6. Wait for the sync to complete. You can monitor the progress in the "Windows Media Player" window.
  7. Close the media player program. Unplug your Philips GoGear from the computer.

My philips gogear sa1356 was not working properly after formating it through computer,i think i just lost system files...?Player was not reading any mp3 or any other files after format

Your going to need to download and install the GOGEAR files from the gogear.com homepage under support. Once you do this, you will need to leave the files on your computer and then move the files onto the GOGEAR player. Keep ind mind that if you had music or data on the player before, that information will now be lost and not recoverable.

I have a philips gogear 8gb freezes up several times a hour

Unfortunately the GoGear HDD series is totally incompatible with Windows Vista and Windows Media Player 11. It will work for a while, and then behave exactly as you described. Solution: You will need to uninstall your GoGear software, rollback to Windows Media Player 10, reinstall the GoGear software, update the firmware on your player, and even then the damage may already be done (IMO, it is more trouble than this player is worth). You can read about the warnings on Philips website.

Download Problems

Two problems:
1) All GoGears are completely incompatible with iTunes, AAC format.
2) Most GoGears are completely incompatible with Mac's, even though the computer will recognize it and appear to transfer songs.

It freezes up and wont read

Make sure you back up all songs on the GoGear before attempting this solution.

1) Back up all files on the GoGear
2) Open up Philips Device Manager (Start --> All Programs --> Philips)
3) Click on the Repair Tab, and look for a msg that says connect the player while holding the volume + button
4) Disconnect the GoGear from the computer and turn the GoGear off - hold in the volume + button and continue to hold it as you reconnect the GoGear to the computer; after holding the volume + button for up to 20 or 30 seconds, a window will open up saying that your device is being repaired (now you can let go of the volume + button); after the repair is successfully complete, your GoGear will be good as new

Now you can do the firmware upgrade that will prevent this problem from occuring in the future. Open up Philips Device Manager and click the Update tab. This problem was caused because most GoGear's were designed for Windows XP with Media Player 10 (which is no longer the latest standard).
