A solid amber power LED indicates a problem with the motherboard, or something attached to it. (I've seen a bad mouse cause a no post before) Disconnect all cables except power, turn on system see if any LED change. If using a UPS, connect power direct to the wall. If still no change, open case, remove any expansion cards, try again. If still no go, disconnect power cables to all drives, try again.
If still no change, then replace the motherboard

Yellow light power button amber

Sounds like it may be in "sleep" mode. Try pressing the power button quickly (press and release). If that does not work just unplug the machine, wait 30 seconds and replug. Turn it on and see if that corrects the problem.

Dear Sir my system DELL OPTIPLEX 760 has a problem. When i use this for 45 minutes it won`t restart although it will shutdown then i have to power on again this but the orange light will blink not yellow...

please describe in more details, whe you try to restart machine from os or from button?

What are you seeing other than this? Are there other problems you see? When do you see this? I have worked on older optiplexes and the lights are yellow at different times.

I can't open the case of my optiplex 740, it seems to be stuck or locked., i've tried pulling it but i don't want to pull too hard because i might damage it., please help me., thanks a lot

This model comes in 3 designs for the computer chassis. Small Form Factor Chassis (SFF), Desktop Chassis (DT) and Mini-tower Chassis (MT).

if the orange light is on monitor. then its a no signal to monitor
video card problem, if you have one. check cable connections from computer to monitor
try a different video card in it
if it has onboard graphics, use a video card in it

How to turn ON video and audio on my Dell Computer (Optiplex 740) Windows XP professional 2002 OS

The video and audio needs drivers - if you have drivers - simply insert the media - [ CD with the stuff on it] into the CD or DVD tray and it will play.
You may have to download the drivers from Dell's main web pages - go to www.dell.com and read - you will see what to do there.
