I took a look out on Gateway's download site and found the usual drivers for your box.

Hopefully you can use a friends pc to connect to this web site, download the driver onto a usb stick, and then take that to your laptop and install the driver.

Then look inside the case and see what's written on the sound card itself. If it's built-in to the motherboard instead, then look at the motherboard model number, (clue: it will look like a model number, not a 'J4' or such) and look up the driver from there.
Google is useful at that point.

Look for the driver itself. If the driver is for an HP device, go to HP.com. etc..etc...

btw, don't look for the zip file. That just gets you in more trouble than you want.
