I have a Craftsman 2-gallon 1.5 HP air compressor, Model No 921.152100. The last time I used it it worked great. I just tried to use it and it doesn't work. I checked the connections and found the pressure switch is getting power, but there is a raised button between the line terminals. When I depress this button the compressor runs. It seems to be a reset button of some sort, but it won't stay reset. Do I need a new LF-10 pressure switch?

Is there pressure in the tank already? The reset is usually on the end of the motor.
The pressure switch, a diaphragm pushes against an adjustable tension spring. Less spring tension cuts the motor out at lower pressure, more tension at a higher pressure. Has this adjustment been used? It may have a second adjustment, either nut or screw, that adjusts the pressure differential between cut in and cut out.

SOURCE: need help wiring new pressure switch for craftsman air compressor

Assuming that you are wiring for 115v. Lets start with the ground. The cord that attaches to the wall outlet will have three wires, green, black , and white. Insert the cord thru one of the openings of the pressure switch and attach the green wire to the ground screw. Next look very closely at the contacts and notice that they are arrainged in pairs. There is a small brass bar with two contacts that completes the circuit for each line. Start with L1 and attach white wire from cord, then attach white wire from motor to the screw terminal that small brass bar bridges to (should be T1). Next attach black wire from cord to L2 and black wire from motor to remining screw. Remember that the small brass bar with two contacts is the bridge and simply connects white to white and black to black. Enjoy

SOURCE: How do I Reset the pressure switch to kick in

the pressure switch is generally set from the factory, but if you are brave and have some free time it can be done

Take the cover off of the pressure switch, and you will see the contacts. What you will have to do is loosen the nuts on the threaded shafts equally a little at a time until you reach the pressure that you want.

Not something i recommend, but it can be done and done safely. REMEBER TO UNPLUG IT SO YOU DON'T ZAPP YOURSELF!!!!!

I have a Craftsman air compressor model 919.156520.What is the gallon capacity and what is the horse power

This compressor has a 33 gallon tank and a 3 to 5 hp (rated)motor. Sears , however, rates their motor power rather differently. I would guess that the actual hp is more like one to one and a half horsepower, going by the amp draw. Usually, a 3 to 5 hp range compressor will only run on 220v and this unit is 110v.

I just bought a craftsman pneumatic 1/2-in drive impact wrench. And used it with my craftsman 4-gallon 1hp air compressor tried to loosen the bolts on my car wheel wouldn't loosen them help

Pneumatic tools are rated in cfm (cubic feet per minute). Your 1 HP air compressor is rated at probably not more than 3 cfm while the 1/2 " impact driver needs at least 8 cfm, maybe 12 chm of air.
The compressor must provide more chm than tool rating needs.
It is a problem, by the time you look at five horse power air compressors and larger, a lot of electric power is needed. A circuit of 220 volts, 20, 30, or more amps would be required to run those large expensive compressors.
If you can, return the air tool and get a good electric tool instead.
Leave those high air volume air tools to shops that are so equipped to use, or invest if you must.

What type oil for model 90234 4 HP 10 gallon

The model number is not enough info but assuming it's a run of the mill, Home Depot or Craftsman type electric air compressor, you need to buy compressor pump oil at Wal Mart or an auto parts store. Please don't use Automotive motor oil because that's not going to withstand the heat of your compressor pump and you'll be buying a new compressor because of it. If your compressor has a gasoline, 4 Hp. motor, it needs Mobil 1 synthetic and change it after every 30 hours of operation.

Compressor shuts off before reaching max pressure

Yes,but if the max is 125 you don't want to increase it above 110 and set off the pressure relief valve.

Craftsman air compressor will not start

I am assuming that there is no air in the machine now. Otherwise it will not turn on if there is enough pressure in the tank.

If it will not start at all, the on/off switch on the pressure switch may not be turned on or it is defective.

You can also check the reset switch on the motor (red button).

These are very simple setups and it shouldn't take too long to troubleshoot.
