I have a nordic Track EXP2000i that works for about a minute after it is plugged in but then the control console stops responding to buttons being pushed. The only buttons that beep are the 5 and 6 increase speed buttons and the decrease age button. do you have an idea what the problem is? Thank you Paul

Our Nordic Track machine intermittently runs its own diagnostic when you turn the machine on after it has been powered off. This includes the first time you take it out of the box. If you notice that the display screen is on but none of the function buttons work, listen for a humming sound at the base of the machine where the motor is housed. A tell-tail sign is that the motor that slopes the running track is raising or lowering the slope (as part of its diagnostic check) which is difficult to recognize when the track is not running. After perhaps one or two minutes, the button functions return and the machine "comes alive". If not, then you'll want to locate the Nordic Track service number and talk to a technician or representative.

If the buttons dont work you may need a new console.

There 2 possibilites that you must test:
1) test the voltages coming from Controller motor board
to the console, if there are the console is FAULTY!! replace

2) If there are NOT, voltage from controller motor board, this board is fAULTY rEPLACE

Adjust the reed switch, see the diagram attached, clean, and tight the connector very well.

Anyway I recommend to call the service Help, in the place where you did buy your treadmill.

However you can RUn THE SOFTWARE calibratin for diagnose, troubleshootin, and fix it, follow the steps in your instructions manual.

Remove the console from the treadmill and remove the back
remove and replace the ribbon cables that run from the keypads to the control board (they are flat plastic strips that push into the board).
remove and replace all the connections on the console
reattach the console and calibrate by doing the following:
1. With the key off press the speed + and stop buttons at the same time and hold
2. place the key on and release the buttons
3. press the stop key once
4. press the speed up til it reaches 85
5. if your max speed is 10 mph then it should read about 9.8-10.2

If the keys will not work then the console is bad and would need replaced.

console is bad no other alternative, check ebay for part

All, just figured something out. I had the evil beeping problem as well. I decided to play around and see if I could fix it. I unplugged the iFit adapter from the main control board and when I plugged it back in and tested it, IT WORKS AGAIN! NO MORE BEEPING!

If console lights up but doesnt respond when buttons are pressed, you more than likely have a console problem. Key pad issue would be my best guess.
