Hi Fred,

If the motor buzzes, makes little movements but does not have the power to spin, then you need to replace the run capacitor for the motor. It's a big cylindrical one you can't miss.

No real test for them, just replace.

This is usually the fault - worn brushes, stuck brushes or duff capacitor.

(Mine's on it's way out too on an aquarius WD61, but like the plumbers tap - I'll wait a bit before doing it lol! )

Have WD63 WASHER/DRYER & the drum stopped turning. motor ok & drum turns easily when turned manually.

Could be the carbon brushes on the motor. They're usually quite cheap and easy to replace. In this area you can expect to see a lot of carbon dust (black). The brushes themselves should protrude from the case by around 4-6mm.

Could also be a loose connection between the power feed and the motor.
Will it pump? Some machines die completely when the pump fails.

I need to replace brushes on a hotpoint aquarius wm32

pull machine out and make sure u remover the plug completley it is still live with the plug in and switched off throught the netural feed

at the back take off the botom white pannel made of plastic look in side pull the belt off the moter

there should be 2 10mm bolts remove these and tap the moter and it should slide out
remove the earth wire and the moter harness plug and pull the moter out it will go you might have to turn it this way and that once out there is two screws holding each brush remove and put in the new breushes replace the moter

to put the belt on there is two screws on the lid one each side behind a oval blanking cover these are hex head screws

once off put the belt on the moter pully first then on the drum pully and gide it on by hand turn the drum and the belt will spring on open the door and spin the drum by hand to make sure the belt is on correctley replace lid and back turn on power an try if this does not work the moter has gone try ebay i did for my hotpoint cheaper than trade on there

Drum Does not Rotate

the carbon dust that you mention ? on the drivebelt will//may have come from the electric motor carbon brushes especially as you sy machine is 4 yrs old you can diy inspect the brushes by removing the rear panel to access motor unplug the socket from motor then slacken belt and remove belt from pully remove the motor you will see location f brushes x2 opposit each other and normally held in position ont armature of motor by coiled pressure clip like watch spring and brush has wire embedded in it and other end a push on terminal? when these brushes wear down normally the fist indication is fast spin slows then eventually no rotation of drum? over a period of time? SO easy diy to renew brushes if as above worne down /not contacting armature? cost approx £5 here in n/west uk worth investigating and diy saving ££££s $$$$s? and i hope you have good luck hope this helps/inspires you?

Drum not turning

Hello

If you look at the motor which of course is on the top right of the drum. you will see either white or black palstic parts inserted eiterh side and a wire connected to them
These are the brush holders for the carbon brushes.. These have worn out and need replacing easily done just get yourselfthe parts and remove the old one and replace with the new ones....

Hotpoint aquarius 1100

yes easy to change there are 2 of them look for a single wire going to each side of your motor when u find each wire u have found were your carbon brushes are right you will need a pair of bent nose pliers place the ends either side of the plastic casing if the carbon brushes squeeze and pull the first brush should pull out take wire of now the 2 brush you wont be able to see but its directly across from the first 1 do exact same to take that 1 out now before replacing the new brushes there a small slot running down 1 side of the plastic at the end you will see a small metal bar push this up which will release the carbon now you can fit them
