I dont know, my new setup mother has no sound.

That's no problem just download, and install the Audio Driver.

Asus Support > Asus A7V8X-X motherboard > Driver download page,

http://support.asus.com/download.aspx?SLanguage=en&m=A7V8X-X&p=1&s=10&hashedid=YcXfRrWHZ9RKoVmw

On this page click on the blue down arrow, to the right of the OS: box.
(Select OS)

Click on the Operating System you are using.
I clicked on WinXP for an example.

There is one Audio file listed.
Click on the + sign to the left of - Audio (1)
Now click on - Global (DLM)
(Sometimes China is a better server connection)

If you need guidance in downloading, or installing, post in a Comment.

How do you know when a memory stick is single-bank? I want to upgrade my A7V8X-X with 3 Gs, but I keep getting confuse how to determent what is single-bank! Is there a specific code in the product...

This is the memory spec for your motherboard...

3 x DDR DIMM Sockets
Max. 3 GB unbuffered PC2100 / PC1600 non-ECC SDRAM Memory (PC3200 Max. to 2 banks only / PC2700 Max to 4 banks only)

Part of the memory spec will tell you if it is single sided (memory chips only on one side of board)
Double sided is memory chips on both sides of the board....Some systems will not work with double sided memory...

VIA KT400 Chipset Driver update fried my ATI Radeon 9550 AGP Card

AGP is a bit old for win7, i'd drop it. that said, if the ati card is an addin perhaps your onboard (via) chip is causing the problem. turn it off in your bios so that the install never even detects it and use drivers from ati.

ASUS A7V8X-LA

Wow, just buy a gaming computer. The burn-in, compatible components, warranty, all those things are sooo nice. Take a lot of burden off the whole system.

AlienWare has really good stuff.
