I was given an Electrolux vacuum model 1401-B. I would like to download a manual for it. Do you have one? Thanks, Carolyn
Carolyn, The 1401B is one of a family of US built LUX models , now sold by AERUS Electrolux. It shares common info with the MARQUISE, Super J , Olympia and 1205, etc so if you come across a used manual for any of them you will be in good shape.
Try an AERUS Electrolux dealer but the manual may be out of print. Also try a local vac shop
Quick rundown, :
Set the dial at front between medium and fine and don`t adjust, this is the bag fill control, NOT a suction control.
Only use genuine 4 ply filter bags from a pro vac shop, not grocery store grade as this is a vac which filters thru its bag.
Hang the hose for longer life, obstructions can be blown out thru plugging the hose in the blower port under the slide door behind the handle.
Inspect the power head for hair and thread and remove any visible.
When you wheels squeak while vacuming spray the axle shaft behind the neck with a drop of WD 40.
If you feel air venting thru the hose behind the handle or if it is crushed and kinked there or at the vac replace the hose for better suction. The weight of this vac weras out hoses. When the castor below the body cracks and it will, match it with a small SHEPARD castre at the hardware store.
If your rewind is sluggish, pour a tablespoon of talc or baby powder in a tissue and run it up and down the lenght of the vac cord end to end. Then drop the tissue into the vac bag fro fresh scent.....
Enjoy the vac, this one is a great one 30 year plus life span, parts are still available keep it in good repair
