How can i map my public ip address to th natted ip private?

It's mapped automatically by your ISP, the real question is what are you trying to accomplish?
  • Are you looking to trying to run some type of service, host a web server, ftp etc?
  • Are you trying to enable a remote connection to a PC/server behind a nat router?
  • Are you wanting to configure a dynamic IP? (This maps a host name ex: myhomeserve.somedomain.com to your non static ip assigned by your ISP)

Please comment back so I can help you!

Im playing call of duty and cannot get onto any online games. I have an internet connection and im at the rank of lance cpl 2nd class but I cant play on any games?

Make sure that you NAT TYPE isn't moderate or strict if so factory reset the modem/router and if that doesn't do it, go into your modem/router via PC and set your PS3 as a DMZ host. NOT: Setting you PS3 system as a DMZ host puts your console outside the firewall.

Where is your NAT configuration to open and close it for this router? I've watched YOUTUBE videos on where to find the NAT section and I don't have one. Help me I just want my PS3 to have a type 2 NAT so...

Belkin uses the term "Port Forwarding" in the "Firewall" section of the configuration web pages instead of the term "NAT".
For each port that you need to forward to the PS3, create a separate entry in the "Virtual Servers" section.
If that's too much work, then determine the private IP address of your PS3 and add that address to the DMZ for your router. The DMZ settings area is also in the "Firewall" section of your router configuration web pages.
For more information, go to the Belkin support web site and select "G" for "1" and "F5D9231-4" for "2" and the select either V2000 or V1000 depending of your router version (see the bottom of the router) and download the user manual.
While you are there, check whether there is a firmware update for the router available.

Problem with NAT type for xbox live? I have a Belkin wireless G Plus Mimo router and i have strict Nat type when geting on XBL. Any way to make this open?

yup....you can login to the router setup page by typing 192.168.23.1 in internet explorer...
on the left side you will find an option called firewall....click on that..it ll prompt for the password..(password: leave ot blank and click submit)
go ahead and disable it...
also click on DMZ on the left side of router setup page and enable it for the IP address assigned to the XBOX...
also get into virtual servers on left side and open common gaming ports like,
port 80
port 88
port 3074
port 53
port 443
for both tcp and udp....
in addition to that you need to open ports suggested by XBOX vendor...
thats it, you are done with that....as you open ports for xbox in virtual servers
the particular ports for xbox gets bypassed from NAT...so you need not worry about NAT hereafter...
also make sure that the modem provided by the ISP is not NAT enabled...if so ask the ISP to Bridge the
modem,so that you would not face further issues with XBOX....

My PS3 has no NAT Type!!

there is something known as NAT strict that can happen due to many reasons , NAT or network address translator helps in converting the WAN ip address to LAN side IP address or public to private ipaddress . In a case of NAT strict or no NAT type ur PS3 or the router to which you have connected the PS3 is not able to convert the IP address...
Solution: try logging on to the router manager or PS3 settings and enable the NAT ( it would be in a disabled state or DMZ ( de militarized zone ) state )....
If the nat is already enabled Then try to manually configure NAT by opening the port numbers on the router manager or PS3. Port numbers can of UP or TCP protocol depending upon the games ur tyring to play....
If u donno how u do it then contact sony or the people who gave u the router or ur ISP

Nat settings on netgear wgr614 wireless router

Hello --

Most NAT settings can be found, on modern routers, under the WAN setup of the router interface. Normally, it is set to Secured with the option of setting it to Open. Click Open and apply changes, giving the router a moment to reset the software and re-broadcast transmissions.

This comes secured for public consumption because the normal consumer would not create a WAN (wide access network) at home. However, gaming consoles (PS3 and Xbox 360) require this because of the P2P hosting that most online multiple-player games require. Setting it to Open full-duplexes the transmissions without restriction (since gaming console connections are "supposed" to be secure anyway).

After you've set the NAT settings, restart the gaming console, test the 'net connection and confirm it is reading your now Open NAT settings.
