Power cord I have an HP ze2000 laptop. I bought a new power cord for it about 9 months ago. It is a two part power cord. the short piece is the part that plugs into the computer. It has been extremely moody lately. Even when it's plugged in it isn't always working. I have to push it together really tight at the place where the two parts of the cord connect and it can be really hard for me to push it tight enough so that the computer shows it's plugged in. It keeps getting worse and worse. I'm wondering if there's is any way to fix this or if i just need to buy one of the smaller part of it or if i have to buy a whole new cord...

You may have a broken solder connection - some sort of broken or intermittent connection. Common problems are broken solder connections at the power jack (inside the laptop). If this is the case, the laptop will need to be disassembled for repairs to be made. Note: There are online sites with DC power jacks available, crossed by Model number.

Wiring can also break (external to the laptop) especially if the wire/cord is flexed frequently (like when wrapped up to put into the laptop bag). Sometimes there is no external evidence of a break.

Also, if indeed your laptop has a pig-tale as you describe, the jack where you connect might be worn out- just not making contact with the plug.

Find someone with a little tech savvy, if necessary, and locate the exact nature of the bad connection, and make repairs from there.

HP pavillion ze2000 laptop has a broken power

I did this to a laptop many times. And after soldering the problem came back after few months. This is a major problem with laptops. What I finally did is jum short wires inside to bypass the part of the board that caused the problem, and never had to open it again. Opening a laptop is not easy with so many screw, and I hate opening it every few months.
