Lamp went bad i replaced the lamp and cleaned the color wheel (with ear bud). After replacing the lamp the projector tries 5 times to start the lamp or the color wheel. But after no success for 5 times the red light starts blinking. The initial sound comes as if the color wheel has started to rotate but does not achieve its full speed so the lamp does not start.

Seems to me that if the bulb does not turn on it could be a bad ballast.

SOURCE: Toshiba TDP-S20 lamp problem

The lamp ballast which ignites the lamp has failed it sounds like. The red flashing lamp is the tell tale sign with a good lamp installed. Make sure the lamp door is closed too, there is a door switch that can also trigger the red lamp and no startup. There is a company in San Diego CA that can repair the unit called PROJECTOR DOCTOR

SOURCE: Reset Lamp Hours Timer

Make sure the main power switch is OFF. Hold the "ON", "MENU", and "VOLUM -" buttons at the same time and turn the main power switch on. Keep them held until the yellow power standby light comes on, then let go. It is done.
This works for Toshiba TDP T-9

Optoma lamp led flashing

the are a few reasons for this but the most two common ones are the intermitant lamp failure or colour wheel tracking rotation sensor when you startup the projector the lamp should drive half brightness approx then you should hear the colour wheel drive if it is at this point the projector goes off and restarts the chances are it is dust on the colour wheel sensor.Rmove sensor this has three wires going to it supply and pulse wire it is mounted on a small pcb board with one screw remove the screw and board complete with sensor and clean the sensor with a cotton bud dipped in spirits then wipe over with clean cotton bud. This usually solves the problem.

Replaced lamp, would not come on , Got a loud, low pitched buzzing noise.

The color wheel on the set is bad and that is what is causing the buzzing. This unfortunatly is common.
It can be the lamp. But the color wheel and ballast can cause the same thing. Put your ear to the back of the set when you push the power button and you should can here the color wheel start up. If not, that is your problem.

Now if the lamp is not lighting up. you should here a ticking sound from the back of the set, if not the ballast is bad. If the lamp is coming on and then going out after only about 5 seconds AND you do not here the start up of the color wheel, the color wheel is confirmed bad.

Below is a link to the a service manual you can buy and have it shipped to your home if you want to try the repair yourself.

I have two dlp infocus X2 projectors. Both of them have lost their color. Is there something I can do to fix it?

This could be one of 2 things. It could have a bad color wheel or there is a setting problem in the unit. If the video mode is not set correctly like NTS or PAL it can give a black and white image.

The other could be your color wheel has failed. Did the unit make any noises before the color went out?

Some times the color wheels will make noises when the age before they crack or break from the heat.

I believen you can pull the lamp out and with the lamp out try and power the unit up, look into the little hole the lamp shines into and see the color wheel spinning. when you first plug it in and unplug it the wheel should spin and you should see the colors change. DONT TOUCH THE COLOR WHEEL they are fragile and can break easy. Some get more brittle over time from the heat of the lamp.

Hitachi cp-rs55 not working,tic.tic.... noise coming from project

make sure you reset the lamp timer. Manual has the steps. Hitachi Performa CP RS55 3 LCD Projector

if the timer is reset, try cleaning the color wheel. Optoma HD20 Projector Cleaning this video is for an optoma but the color wheel is cleaned the same way in most DLP projectors. Dirty or dusty color wheel sensors cause the projector to shut down and act like its the lamp.

I heard a pop and now the projector only shows black and white.

The color wheel has failed in youtr projector. There are 4 pieces of glass in the color wheel which fit togeter in a "pie" formation and they are red, blue, yellow & clear. This wheel is spun by a motor. The glass is glued to the motor's hub, and, when it fails the glass segments are thown off the hub. This gives you a B&W picture because all of the light is allowed to shine through the optics all of the time. Replace the color wheel with Toshiba part no: 23125963. It will be about $65. No soldering is involved, just use care with the ribbon cable to the motor. You will need a no. 2 phillips screwdriver and a set of jeweles screwdrivers to do this.

Infocus 540 lamp didnt strike keep trying

if mains is ok and fan running ok, could be a bulb service issue, all lcd projectors have an internal lamp life counter which counts down and once the lamp has reached the end of its life it will not fire up and a new bulb will be required.
