Sir, I am purchase a LG DVD WRITER model.no:HL-DT ST DVD RAM GH22NS50 from m/s.International marketing co.,IMC tower,madhavan nair road,ravipuram,ernakulam-682 016. on december 2009, but after one month it is not working properly.three times i met your authorised customer before the guarantee period but service people (atlanta computers,panampally nagar,ernakulam)did not identify the complaint and return back it after some local service, after co nnecting to my PC same problem continued "not reading". i understand that IMC people purposely ignore my complaint and extending the time for covering expiry date.now also it is not working.so i request you to please consider this letter as reputed company.I except favourable action from your side. thanking you, with regards AJAI.B, GOVT.POLYTECHNIC COLLEGE,KALAMASSERY,PIN. 683 104,HMT JN,ERNAKULAM (DIST) KERALA. ph.mob.9847123738,9744496971

you not give enough infomation,really,..but try another program for burnin,..1st,,then use some tidy,dvd blanks...like verbitim,or philips etc,,if still the same,then change your dvd writer,..they are very cheap now,.its not often a firmware problem

Can you hear it "spinning" the media? If not, you have a "defective" unit (motors or bearings).
If it spins, but nothing is read, then you have a "defective" unit (dead laser).
Take it back to where you bought it, and get them to test it, to prove that it is "bad", and then for them to replace it.

Normal for most SATA devices.

Lg hl-dt-st dvdram gh22ns50 does not read any cd or dvd. It does not burn any cd or dvd either.
try downloading a firmware update on www.lg.com. anyway, my gh22ns40 doesn't work well either, it is blind luck that it will read any cd or dvd. i guess, "life's ****" with "life's good" products...
