I was in a hurry a week ago and shut down my computer (HP Pavilion) while my printer (HP Deskjet 380) was printing the last page of a document. This caused some kind of meltdown in that now the computer will not talk to the printer.
I have tried the following solutions:
Shut down and unplug both computer and printer. Computer seems to think it is sending documents to the printer as it stacks them up in the print window, but nothing prints.
Re-install printer. I get a message saying that the directory needed is unavailable. I assume from this that the printer is fine and the computer has an issue.
I connected the printer with a different computer and it prints just fine.
HELP~! Thanks in advance for any advice!
Hi,
It is really my first time to encounter that particular message that the "directory needed is unavailable". Here are the things that i want you to check.
1. Make sure that you logon to your computer using the Administrator previlege. That way, it will allow you to install and uninstall programs or softwares without any warnings.
2. Try to open the controlpanel>>> go the Printers and faxes>>> then make sure that the HP Deskjet F300 series has a check mark and it says READY.
3. If it doesnt say ready, right click the printer icon and it will give you option "USE PRINTER ONLINE". click on that.
4. Now, try printing a document.
Note: if the issue still not resolve, please give me further informations about the operating system, when you tried to print does it stays on the printing queue?
Thank you so much

Try uninstalling the printer drivers and reinstalling a new set into the computer. If this is a Vista computer, make sure you have the update Vista drivers from HP.com before installing to your computer.
