How do I set my wall oven to "low broil"? When I turn on broil it is always "high broil"

What kind of brand of oven that you are using? There are two types where you can you can use your broiler.
*Low Broil: There are 2 broil elements. In low broil only the inner element is on.
*
High Broil: There are 2 broil elements. In high broil both the inner and outer are on.

First start up

You're actually referring to the "broiler" elements. Most electric ovens have these at the top of the main oven space. (Some gas ovens are set up the same way, but many put the broiler elements in a bottom drawer.)

As their name implies, broiler elements are active only when you're broiling. They will not go on for baking.

Broiling is the process of cooking food by exposing it directly to a high heat source at close range. To broil a steak, for example, you would place the pan holding the steak on an oven rack raised to the top or next to top position in the oven (consult the manual) and set the oven to broil. The top elements will then turn on and cook the meat by direct radiation.

Most people, however, use ovens for baking far more often than for broiling. Baking is the process of cooking food (cakes, casseroles, roasts etc) by indirect heat. In other words you raise the oven to a certain temperature, put the food on a rack more in the middle of the oven, and let the surrounding heat cook it over time. When you bake the top broiler elements usually don't come on at all.

I hope this helps.

Oven door will not open

The lock motor (latch) has gone bad. Unfortunately, the part has been discontinued and is no longer available for this model.

My broiler doesn't work in my JennAir S136 range and I think the problem is the selector switch. How can I confirm this?

Hello,

To do that you could check if the correct power is going to broil element. That can by TURNING OFF CIRCUIT BREAKER, remove door by opening to appx 30 degree position where is shold stay open, pull off door, remove broil element and attach a volt meter set to measure at least 240 volts ac and attach the meter leads to the wires on broil element, restore power set controls to broil and check for 240 vac at element. If 240 vac at element it's the element thats defective, if 240vac not present the selector switch is the problem, espically if bake works

Good luck,i hope this helps ya diagnose your oven

How does one remove oven door on ge stove

Move the door to the broil position. Lift the door off the hinges. To re install the oven door the hinges must be in the broil position. Note: Some models have a screw on the inside door panel over each hinge that must be removed but I do not believe it is that way in your case. I looked at your model
If you are planning on replacing an element remember the L-2 off the breaker is LIVE to the elements. Make darn sure the power is OFF.

Hi there, We have a Fidigaire Gallery electric stove and the oven does not heat up. We press thej"Bake" button followed by the up arrow to set the tempurature but the oven will not heat up. The...

well... have a volt meter?
Are the bake and broil coils the same?
If so, you can swap them to see if the broiler element glows in the bake position... if so then the element is NFG... to proove that put the bake element in the broil position and fire up the briol function... it should not heat up...
Usually the MFG. intentionally makes the elements with a different offset, so you cannot mix them up...

that's what the meter is for... unplug the element, and put the probes in the socket.
You will be reading 220 Volts, so be XTRA careful... if no 220 then the Module that controls the relay to activate the element connector is not working correctly... so you have to sorts test both ways...
Just be careful...

When I push the bake or broil button, it displays an "F-3" code and beeps. What is the repair for this code? Thank you John

Hi, the f-3 error code is usually for the oven temp sensor. This is the little metal rod sticking out of the back wall of the oven cavity. replace that and plug the oven back in and it should work. Hope that helps.

Broiler element not working at all. checked element--it's OK. Called a serviceman-- he thought it was an oven sensor--replaced sensor ---no change Electronic clock some times shows a code "F2 ...

you do not say it is electric oven. if so broil element requires 240 vac. may be controlled by relay. Is bake element working? also controls for broil may be different setting if digital panel is in this design. I think same sensor may be used for bake or broil.

you do not say if gas oven, electric oven, single or double oven or if digital panel control, a little more information would help.

if you have digial voltmeter, FULLY disconnect electric power and measure element on terminals. probably less than 15-20 ohms for a good element.
