check ur speaker wires, try disconnect all wires from back of unit and then try to turn on unit .if it stays on whit no wires attached than u have short connection at speaker wires . if doesn`t come on then try to fasten screws at back of the unit , may sound like BS but if amp board don`t have good ground connection it can go in protection mode happened to me on RX-V592
It indicates an output load problem, dis-connect the speaker wires from the back of receiver. Next power on and turn the volume right down, if the unit runs, check for shorts in the speaker wires and speakers. But if it still shuts down "with speakers and wires dis-connected" one or more of the audio output ic's is shorted and will need a professional to assess the item.
Does it work without PS3 attached? When receiver turns off, it is usually due to badly connected/configured speakers. Try powering on the receiver without speakers.
if you are not really that technical type that can make repairs then it will be very hard for you to replace it yourself. not hard to find the volume control, it is mounted on a board. you dismantle the board first then remove desolder the volume control. it think you can onyl get the parts from yamaha service.
just connect your subwoofer mono RCA to your amp sub single out rca connector. you do not need to megre all those 4terminals into one. in fact internal circuit of those 4rca are merging inside to one since the sub uses only a single amp. 4inputs was meant for sources with multiple sub out
Get another receiver! I had the same problem and had the power supply replaced $250 and after 3 months it started doing the same thing. I just purchased a Pinoeer Elite VSX 90TXV.
