I have a late 80's or early 90's model hotpoint gas stove. the model number is not listed, all i have is a part number listed on the wiring diagram. it has a spark ignitor, the problem is the oven will not ignite.it clicks, it sparks, but i cannot smell any gas. is there another way to light the oven. p.s. i also tried a lighter while it was clicking, still nothing.

SOURCE: My hotpoint gas stove does

Well lets think about it. If you see the ignitor glowing then you have a complete circuit. That means the oven control is sending down juice to the ignitor. The oven safety is alloing for continuity because the ignitor is indeed coming on. So what in the heck could be the problem. All the components SEEM to be working. The answer is simple. The ignitor WILL get WEAK and not put out enough AMPS to open the bi-metal inside that safety valve. The way to know for sure is to clamp on an ammeter to the system and do a simple amp draw check, however, we aint all got a hundred dollar ampmeter to check amp draw with.
Look at the ignitor,is it orange or very bright? If it is a mellow orange the chances are it is weak. Replace it.

Ignitor needs to be working for the gas valve to open. If the ignitor does not reach the proper amp draw the gas valve will not open. There is a video at www.appliancehelponline.com/servicemanual.html this will walk you thru performing an amp draw test on the ignitor.

Need wiring diagram for Hotpoint built-in eletric stove catalog number RF755001HT.

I can suggest some general steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue with the 115V outlet on your Hotpoint built-in electric stove:
  1. Check the power source: Make sure the stove is properly plugged in and that the circuit breaker is on. If there's still no power, try resetting the breaker.
  2. Inspect the wiring: Look for any loose or damaged wires around the outlet or control panel. If you're not comfortable working with electrical wiring, it's best to call a professional.
  3. Check the outlet: Use a multimeter to check if the outlet is providing power. If it's not, it may need to be replaced.
  4. Contact the manufacturer: If none of the above steps solve the problem, you can contact Hotpoint for assistance or to request a wiring diagram.
Remember, working with electricity can be dangerous, so it's important to take appropriate safety precautions and seek professional help if needed.

Motorized front shoulder belt inoperative

I can almost guarantee you have broken wires in the door, it is a common problem in late 80-early 90 Camry's-the breaks are in the tube that goes between the door and the body in the hinge area. Split the rubber sleve open and go through the wires, they will have breaks in them. I rewired my neighbors harness since a new one ($115) was almost impossible to find at any Toyota dealership.

Not heating up

This looks like it is an older model. The normal place I check for parts doesn't stock the heating element. I found an alternative place but the part is $90.

The element is in the large round area that surrounds the drum assembly. Here's a diagram. The heating element is part number 512. The line doesn't reach all the way there but I think the element is the two dark rings inside the housing. Here the page with the parts listing. You'll note that the model number is the same but the brand is GE. GE makes hotpoint.

E-Mail me and I will send you a copy of my Schematic. It's 2 pics, but they are pretty clear and should help you. I came to the site wher I saw your post looking for a pic of an exploded view of our dryer. Trying to open it to fix the glide bushing. Started makin metal to metal noises lately, so I am assuming it's like a nylon glider for the drum?
