If your opener is a Craftsman, Chamberlain or Liftmaster you will find the manufacture date on the end closest to the door. You may have to remove a light lens.
If both units were manufactured before April 2005 or both were manufactured after that date they should work. If one is older and the other newer than that date they will not work with each other.
I TRY TO CLOSE GARAGE OPENER DOOR DOWN BUT IT REFUSE TO CLOSED DOWN BECAUSE SUN SHINE TO SAFETY REVERSING SENSOR, LIGHT BULB BLINK ON ,
WHAT SHOULD I DO IT ? PLEASE EXPLAIN ME HOW TO DO IT? THANK YOU . TRULY HAROLD MILLER ,
Your opener was manufactured before there were safety sensors and there is no way to add them. You would be miles ahead to replace the opener with a new state of the art model.
This may actually be a safety sensor problem. There should be an led light on each sensor and each should be on. Try to align them to look at one another so the infra red beam shoots between them. If both lights are off then you will need to replace the sensors or the logic board. You can test the sensors with a 9v battery. You can get replacement parts at searspartsdirect.com. Thanks BB
