I want to clean my oven. i have a maytag performa advanced cooking system. there is a clean button, do i simply just push it? what will happen if i push it? thank you for your help

Your oven has several different clean functions. There is a quick clean (usually 2hrs) as well as longer clean cycles (up to 6-8 hours). Before cleaning you may want to remove the racks (my preference due to discoloration after self clean). When you are ready, Keep pressing the the Clean button until you reach the desired cycle. Keep in mind you will be locked out of the oven until the completion of the cycle including cool down time at the end. You may want to start with the shortest cycle. When you are done, you will see white ash in the oven (the burned off residue). I find it's best to wipe it out while it is still warm.

I have Maytag ECWE550 How do I operate the self cleaning (never did it) or can I get a manual online?

When you use self clean the 900 degree temperature damages the electronics. I do not advise using that feature. Get some oven cleaner and do it the old fashioned way. My opinion.

I have an electric Maytag stove/oven but don't know how to use the self cleaning feature. What do I do?

Never ever use the self cleaning feature. It is there to make your life a little easier, but it also damages elements, door locks and control boards. The heat is just too aggressive. We see it here VERY often. It is a great way for the appliance makers to earn income in spares. Use the traditional method, spray walls, base and racks in the oven with Easy Off - No Odor Foam, and put a large roasting pan of boiling water in the middle shelf (this prevents the spray drying off). Leave overnight, and wash off in the morning.

Self clean

Usually the oven has to be locked closed with a handle on on the front door. This will activate a safety mechanism that will allow the cleaning cycle to start. If the safety switch is malfunctioning or the door is not closed properly, the cleaning cycle won't start.
