The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). I use a usb 2.0 microSD card Reader Writer and dont have a problem with it recognizing my cameras,(I have a Kodak and a Canon).

02 possibilities

1. there might be a problem with your computer check in the system properties, device manager, usb. if all the usb drivers are properly installed the attach the camera.
2. After connecting the camera switch it on from the top of the camera.

try re-loading the drivers but i wouldn't hold much hope time for a new cam. disposeable society and all.
