Sorry to read about your problem, I hope this helps you out. You are at the limit of what the unit can do. One little thing you can do is see if the unit is hooked up to hot water instead of cold water.
in order for the humidifier to come on with the heater there has to be a temperature sense curuit to turn it on/off at a certain temp, the humidity curcuit on the unit will turn it off at set %
It could be that the humidistat is not calling for humidity. Make sure that you have the dial turned up all the way (as far as it will go, just to test it) and that the blower on the furnace is running - if the unit is properly wired, the water will not run unless the blower on the furnace is running. This should do the trick. If not, the only other thing would be a bad humidistat. Good Luck!
1/4" flexible copper pipe. Tap into your cold water line using the included saddle valve (pierces the pipe), attach the 1/4" flexible copper pipe to the saddle valve on the cold water pipe and the solenoid valve on humidifier unit using the included compression fittings. Tada!
It sounds like a wiring problem. If you still have the instructions that came with the unit, look at the wiring diagram and make sure you have everything right. If you dont have the instructions, you can find them online. Be careful you dont zap yourself! When you're in there playing around with wires make sure you kill the power to the furnace at the breaker. Double check this with a voltage tester if you have one. Also, if you're not sure you may want to disconnect the unit until you can afford to have a qualified professional look at it or you may end up doing more harm than good.
