Answer 1:

Either the monitor is going bad or the video card is going bad. If you can get your hands on a spare monitor, try swapping it out and see if the lines are still there. If they are, then the problem is with the video card. You'll want to replace the video card if that is the case.

Answer 2:

Ram modules can also cause vertical lines on a monitor. It's hard to believe but i have experienced it multiple times. The ram is detected by the system, yet the display is corrupt. If you open up the pc and touch the ram modules the lines go away. This is very rare yet a possible cause and easily overlooked.

Answer 3:

The video card could be over heating which causes what you are seeing, lines can also be called "Artifacts". Try opening the side of your case and see if you see these lines. Also, it could be a driver issue, try cleaning out your drivers using Driver Cleaner, and reinstalling the appropriate drivers.

If you have another computer, if the video card is a expansion video card (Meaning you have it in a PCI/AGP/PCI-E slot) try it in another computer to see if the problem persists, if so your card is probably bad and needs to be replaced.

Answer 4:

Also check to see if there are any magnets near the screen or hard drive. Sometimes magnets (such as the ones on speakers) can interfere with electronics. Especially when it comes to Computers and Computer Components.

In all honsty, most likely either the screen is defective or is becomming defective, or your video/graphic card is overheating and/or starting to die/fail.

I hope this helps :)

Best Regards,

James

My hp vs 15 displays vertical color stripes that alternate different colors wether its hooked up tp computer or not what is wrong, is it junk

It may sound strange but be absolutely sure the cable is plugged into the monitor. Adapter on the computer. The serial adapter on the back looks just like video. Video actually has a faintly noticeable monitor icon rigtht next to it. Plugging into a serial can eventually blow out your monitor. Also, a.badcable can do the same thing. And if you have messed up the monitor's settings you will see the same

My al1916w monitor has a vertical blue stripe on the left side. It works fine except that the striped area discolors video. How do I fix that?

Unfortunately, a stripe on an LCD monitor indicates a physical failure of the LCD panel itself. The only solution is to replace the panel with a new one.

2" pink stripe

It sounds like it is either the video cable or the video causing this if it is happening on more than one monitor. I would replace the video cable first and test. If it is still doing it you can install the video card in a second computer to test it. Or just replace it.

HP Laserjet P1006 prints with blank white stripe down left side

Clean the Corona Wire carefully to remove any residue. As the charge on the wire is effectivley masked it cannot deposit any toner to the page and will result in a consistent white vertical stripe.

Right half of screen is Black with a White vertical stripe

Yeah, I have this exact same problem, except my mom slammed my laptop shut in frustration around half an hour ago, so that's why it's like this. The right half of my screen is black with two colorful stripes (mostly white), but the left half is visible. I've researched a bit and found out that this is because the LCD in your monitor has burnt out, and since you don't have a monitor to attach, the only thing you can do is to go to where you bought the laptop and either get it fixed for free or return it for a brand new one (if your warranty still stands). If not, you might as well get a new laptop. I think my warranty has expired, so I'll get a new laptop, hopefully.

Hope this helps!

ViewSonic N1700w with Black stripe on right side of display

Sounds to me that you have a bad connection/wire to the CCFL bulb on that side of the display. Should be an easy fix, do it your selfer thing.

Black Out

Hi Detrix, Check with www.lcdrepair.net if you want a repair. Something is wrong with your LCD controller and or GUI interface circuit or the circuit supplying power to it. If your technically endowed, you may want to open the monitor case and clean the dust and lint from around the circuits using a Small paint brush to sweep away any built up dust. These circuits take the Signal from the computer and controls the 2.5 million pixels on the LCD screen. Dsut can cause major problems with handling all that data. Give it a shot, what do you have to loose, its not dangerous if the monitor is unplugged.
