Ryobi Multi-Volt Battery Charger Logo
Posted on Dec 18, 2010

My product wasn't listed ... My Ryobi 7.2v drill stopped working (8 yrs old). I bought a new battery, not including the charger cable, and it charges just a tiny bit. Should I replace the cable or buy a new drill?

After 8 years its possible you have some corrosion or bad contact on drill, takeing it apart an checking inside may be to much for you,but make sure all contact are clean on outside.

My battery charger just does not work anymore! I have the two batteries and charger that were purchased as a package with my drill. I bought many other pieces to add to my Ryobi family.

Receipt will do nothing for you if it is out of warranty. Normal warranty is for three years.

Write to the company regarding your situation - see if your unit has a serial number that can give indication of age of unit. Perhaps they will replace the charger for you.

Make sure that the charger cord/connections are good and that unit is receiving power from wall.

I bought 2 P103 lithium batteries and they will not take a charge from my one + (p110) charger. I was informed that these components are all interchangeable. Will the P103s work with the blue 18v ryobi...

That is true the One+ 18V Li-Ion battery packs will work in any One+ 18V Ryobi tool. However the Lithium ion batteries will not charge in the original P110 NiCd charger. You will need one of the the new series Ryobi One+ 18V "dual chemistry" chargers for that. The will charge both types of battery packs.

You will find that a higher voltage drill has a lot more power--especially if the battery is a Lithium type instead of Ni Cad type. Each charge runs longer and doesn't tend to lose charge by itself as much. Good luck!

How do you test a charger for my 18 volt ryobi 4 pac (it has a circular saw, sawzall, flashlight and drill) all of a sudden it would not charge batteriesaanymore and before i buy a new charger i want...

When you insert a battery for charging, which light(s) combination do you see?. There should be red, green and yellow and different individual lights or combinations of lights mean different things. If only the red light goes on, chances are the batteries are to cold to charge. They will not charge below 32F so if your charger is in the garage, take the batteries in the house until they are room temp then try again. If you still have a problem and the unit or batteries are are less than 2 yrs old they should be be under warranty.

I would not say they are not defected, but I think they are not getting fully charged. I have the same problem with my battery once I have used it all day and the red light comes on from the fuel gauge. I have the P104 battery. I would return your charger and try to charge them on the new one first. If you have the same trouble, then return the batteries for new ones.
