SOUND CARD REPLACMENT

On a desktop it's easy to replace the sound card. Remove the power cord, open the case then purchase a PCI Sound card that will fit into one of the PCI Slots. You present sound card might be what is called an on board sound card (which is built into the motherboard). You won't touch the onboard sound card, you will simply add a pci sound card.

I recently purchased a new M-Audio Audiophile 192 sound card but I cannot get it to work, I don't hear anything coming from my speakers (M-Audio AV40s), which I know are working because I tested them...

This could be that the Onboard Sound Card is turn on in the Basic Input Output Settings, these control wich devices start and run when you computer is first turned on. Commonly known as the BIOS there very often is a setting in there for the sound to come from the onboard sound card or the one installed seperately. You must access this setting when you first sstart your computer, and switch it to disable onboard sound.

I am having D101GC motherboard. Suddenly sound card stoped working. I purchased PCI sund card and it was working properly for few months and stoped working. I have formated the system and tried installing...

After installing pci soundcard you really should disable the onboard sound through bios as the PC may just have become confused as to which sound its trying to use. Also in control panel under sound devices make sure your soundcard is listed and the mute box is not checked.

I WANT TO PUT IN A SOUND CARD ON MSI N1996 MOTHERBOARD

Although I'm not familiar with that motherboard the usual way to disable the onboard sound is;
Enter the bios by pressing the Delete key or F2 when the machine starts to boot.
Go to the Integrated Peripherals section and find the On-Board line and change it to disable.

How to unsinstall my onboard sound card drivers

Hi,
You can usually disable your onboard sound card by going into your BIOS setup when your PC starts. Older mother boards have a jumper setting on the board to disable onboard sound. If you cannot do either of these, then just disable your onboard card in "device manager"

External speakers don't work but internal speaker works fine.

Try your speakers on another system to make sure speakers are working.

Make sure volume control on PC is not set on mute.

Make sure onboard sound is enabled in BIOS

Try re-installing the sound card driver.

If all this fails and you have a spare slot on your PC just purchase a new sound card for about $10.00 or so.

New Sound Card is not working.

Ted, the first thing you should do is go into your computer's BIOS and disable the built-in sound card. Once you do that, go back to your device manager and if the onboard sound card still appears there remove or disable it. Then reboot and your new sound card should be recognized and you can install drivers and begin using it.

Onboard audio not working , I'd like to add a pin header for a speaker

Do you have your onboard audio drivers installed?
If you don't, you can most likely find the drivers on the internet.

If that doesn't work, you can buy a sound card and install that into your computer.
