Try deleting some text messages in the in box this may solve the problem.
The handset has a flashing envelope icon when the maximun number of SMS messages have been stored on the SIM card. Most SIM cards hold 30 text messages (SMS); once this limit is met, the handset displays a flashing envelope icon.

hai... go to settings/intial setup/master reset/it ask security code type 000000 , it will get cleared

go to your mesage folder go to sim messages then delete a few that should sort uot your problem

Yet another essential detail: It might happen that your Nokia E52 is unable to read old messages from your sim card. At least this happened to me, when putting my old card (used in some 6-7 years old nokia phone) to a new E52. No message was visible but they were there!!! The solution: Put the card into your old nokia (switch it perhaps to the card memory) and then delete the old messages (below some number - you must try the amount- or all of them). Then the things work.
It is in fact an unpleasant incompatibility and Nokia should mend it!
