I just got my daughter a palm treo 680 and she can't recieve any calls or make any calls the same with text messaging. Is there something she is not doing right or is there something else she needs to do.
My problem is similar - I can hear callers (only thru the headphone jack), but they can't hear me. I CAN send & receive text msgs. Happened 2 wks ago - no phone srvc for a day, then it came back! Most apps have no sound, BUT - I can hear the various ring tone samples in the sound selection app, as always! Somewhere in my search for a solution, I came up with the idea that all of this may be related to a problem with the headphone jack - MP3s don't play thru spkr, but DO play with phones plugged into the phone jack! Weird!

First thing to check is to make sure that she has inserted a correct sim. If you don't know how to do this, download the manual from Palm.com. Next make sure that it is a 3G sim. I am a little ahead of myself. You did not say that the phone was a GMS phone. If it isn't, forget the sim description. Assuming it is a GSM phone and you inserted the correct sim in the sim slot, Then make sure that you have put it in the wireless mode. To do this, hold down the phone button to get the message that the phone is off. Ansewr with yes.Last thing, does the phone have the logo on the front. Be sure that the logo matches your carrier.

some network providers dont provide object push which prevents the pictures from getting pushed to your mobile , but they will send the link to download the picture , report the problem to your network provider.
there is a sprint sms timestamp patch that you can download on to your phone that'll show the time of an incoming message. It works fine on my treo pro.
In Nokia you can turn off receipts. You may need to get the manual out, but you do not have to have receipts, obviously a little money making scheme, like my voicemail access msgs costs me everytime!!!
Same problem, but mine began, when I changed between one Sim (telcel) to other SIM (Movistar). Whith the second my phone works fine, but with the first carrier, all sims failed to make phone calls
I also have a Treo 650 that works flawlessly. I'm on AT&T and sometimes a message gets delayed but I don't think I've ever missed a message. I would believe it is the verizon network. It could also be effected by sunspots and the part of the world you are in.
if you are using Vista ultimate, it is a 64 bit operating system and therefore palm doesn't have official support for it yet, but someone has found a solution: http://forums.palm.com/palm/board/message?board.id=windows_hotsync&thread.id=17980
