How do I replace an Oven Gasket seal for a F&P Multi Function oven Model no. 649PAW. The part is called Gasket Oven, part number 573263. I can't find anyway to remove the seal from the oven. There was a small screw at the top but it didn't do much when I removed that.

Thanks for your reply, but the gasket is not actually on the door. I have replaced those no problems. This gasket is actually part of the oven itself, and is somehow attached around the edge of it, the door would sit snug up against it. There don't appear to be any screws or clips that I can see.

Hello,

Before you decide to replace your oven door gasket, check first if it really needs replacement or if it's the correct oven component that's broken. Broken oven door gaskets unevenly heat the food being cooked or baked. Turn on the oven and navigate your hand around the door way of the oven without touching the walls of the oven. An inch distance from the walls of the oven to your fingertips is a good distance to check for any unexpected release of heat.
The gasket needs replacement if you perceive that the heat is escaping from inside. Be careful not to touch the oven door when you test your oven.
The gasket is where the door normally closes on to and is normally found at the frame of the oven. In this kind of oven,
where the gasket is mounted on the frame, the gasket is friction-fit and can easily be replaced. Some ovens have a door that is divided in to 2 sections and the gasket is not found on the door frame.
In this type of oven, the gasket is installed in between the back and front panels of the oven door. If the gasket is installed in between the front and back sections of the door, it is advisable to have a professional fix or replace it.
For frame-mounted gaskets, below is a step by step process on replacing the oven door
gasket:

Tools and Materials Needed:

  • Screwdriver,Cleaning cloth,Household detergent,Water,New gasket (same brand and range).
Step 1 - Get the Range and Brand Take note of the range and brand of oven that needs gasket replacement. Purchase the correct type of gasket.
Step 2 - Turn Off the Valve Turn off the valve of the gas source. Take the old gasket out of the channel by removing the screws that is holding it in place. Some gaskets are not attached to the oven via screws but are just friction-fitted in place.
Step 3 - Clean the Channel

Take a cleaning cloth moistened with household cleaning detergent and water solution and clean the channel and the oven door frame. Clean it well so you don't leave any cleaning detergent residue.
Step 4 - Install the New Gasket Start installing the new gasket starting from the top of the door frame going down unto the sides of the oven frame. Ease the new gasket around the corners. End the installation along the bottom by pushing the gasket ends together.
When replacing the gasket, be aware of the scents perceived in the vicinity of the oven. Leave the house when you smell gas and call the fire department. Don't turn on or off any lighting materials such as lamps, ceiling lights or flashlights. If it's found outside the house, turn off the valve of the gas master source. Do not, in any case, enter your home, until the firemen get to your house and confirm that it's safe to go in.

Please rate this if it help.

Good luck and thanks for using fixya.

Hi.......

Can't tell u specifically for your model , but broadly probedure is divided into 2 broad categories depending on your oven

The two types of oven door gaskets are self-cleaning oven gaskets and non-self-cleaning oven gaskets. Each are pressed into the door, but because of the high heat and the need to essentially have an airtight seal, a self-cleaning oven gasket is sandwiched between the panels of the oven door. This enables a tighter fitting gasket, which makes a positive leakproof seal when the oven is locked into the self-cleaning mode. Each type has its own special installation requirements.

    Regular Oven Gasket Replacement
  1. If an oven does not have a self-cleaning function, the gasket is generally held in by a few clips and screws, being seated into a slightly indented track. The screws and clips need to removed and then the old gasket can be pulled out. The new gasket can literally be pressed into the track with your fingers while the door is still attached to the oven. After it is seated, the clips and screws can be put back into place, and the gasket replacement is finished. There is no better or easier way to do it, and the simplicity enables anyone with even limited do-it-yourself experience to do this replacement.
  2. Self-Cleaning Oven Gasket Replacement
  3. Replacing a gasket on a self-cleaning oven is quite a bit different than a regular oven. This is not a difficult task, but there are no shortcuts to make it easier. The oven door needs to be removed first and placed on a flat working surface, such as a table or the floor. The door itself will need to be taken apart. Several screws on the inside might need to be removed. After that is done, the inner door can be pulled off and then the oven glass can be removed. It is here where the oven gasket will be placed, and at this point, it can be pulled out much the same way as a regular oven.

Installation is also much the same way. Push the gasket into its track, and then reassemble the door, starting with the oven glass and then placing the inner door on top. Secure it all down by putting the screws back in, and then rehang the door back onto the oven. After it is back in place, check the gasket seal by doing a self-cleaning cycle. If the gasket has been installed correctly, there will be no gaps where any of the heat will leak out.
Regards.

while i'm here , give the fabric a flame test with a torch or lighter, just to make sure. some are more flame resistant than others. should be listed on the fabric roll label. good luck again! also, some appliance stores may sell do-it-yourself heat gasket materials.

If it would help you to find the model number, I would look for a way to remove the oven door. Usually there will be a release near the hinge bracket that you push in or push to the side to allow the bracket to release and you can remove the door to see the ID plate. Otherwise, I would suggest going to a wood stove dealer and looking at the door gasket material they have in stock. They usually have rolls of heat resistant gaskets for sealing doors and glass panels in wood stoves. Last idea would be exhaust gasket material available at Napa Auto parts. Good luck!!

We have a Jenn Air Wall over that the door will not close air tight. They have replaced the hinges but you can actually stick a thumb between the top part of the oven and the door. They say it's supposed...

there's a door gasket that seals it not the metal part of the door so you might be able to stick your thumb in there as long as the seal on the door is closing tightly to the frame, when you open the door it should be on a 90 degree angle, before you had new hinges put on the door, most likely the door sagged lower to the floor and didn't close properly,if you think alot of heat is escaping you could have a bad door gasket.so open the door, look at it from the side,it should look like an L or at a 90 degree angle or even up a little,if it is the hinges aren't the problem if you think to much heat is escaping, call whoever did the work for you and have them check the door seal or gasket same thing.you didn't send the model number so i don't know what seal you need,go here and watch video should be similar and you can put your model number in to find correct part

hope this helps you out,if heat is coming out with door closed and you have new hinges this is most likely what's wrong

We have a 30 in prostyle electric double wall oven - the oven takes forever to preheat and the doors do not seal tightly when they are closed.

Hello- Many ovens use spring-loaded hinges to carry the weight of the door. Over time, these springs weaken or the hinge gets bent just enough to not fully close door. The door gasket can also become flat and stiff, compounding problem. Any small gap releases heated air, and oven will not heat up properly. Replacing the door springs should solve problem.- Thanks -Ed

Kenmore oven, mesh coil on oven door.

Yes you can replace it. It is a gasket that seals the oven when it is being used. It is heat resistant and vital to the operation of the oven. It is like running and A/C with the windows open.
