Mitsubishi WD-73734 73" Television Logo
Posted on Dec 17, 2010

My Mitsubishi WD-73734 TV will intermittently just shut down- no picture, no sound, the set just turns off. When I check the TV for an "error code," I am able to identify error code # 38. What does error code # 38 mean? This problem is very erratic. The "shut-down" can happen three times in ten minutes or may happen once in a month. Thanks!

My Mitsubishi tv WD 73734 won't show a picture you can hear sound and it powers on and off lamp light red and timer lighter blinking

No TVs will behave that way due to a timer. TVs only will display a nag screen telling you to reset the timer. If your lamp is more than 2 years old, it is suspect of failure. Be sure you buy a lamp with an Osram brand or Philips brand bulb inside. Any compatible(knockoff)lamps will not perform as they should. Mitsubishi DLP TV Bulbs
These folks sell original Osram bulbs in their lamps and they have a 6 month warranty. I use them myself for repairs and really have had great experiences with them.

Have a 73" mitsubishi model No.WD 73734 and I have

On the TV not the remote, simultaniously press the menu and input button for at least 5 seconds. This should give an error code. If it blinks 3 times then a pause then blinks 2 times, the code would be 32. Get your error code and look in the service book at: http://www.audiolabga.com/pdf/V36-V37-V38_Service_Manual.pdf -

TV will not turn on, it just sets an makes a clicking noise like it is going to come on and will not. The red light under lamp is on.

Sounds like you need a new lamp. Try re-seating the lamp first. If that does not work you might need a new lamp.
