We have a goodman split unit, It was below freezing the other morning and the unit had a squeaking sound when it started up. Now it has warmed back up, the unit is sounding as if it's trying to kick off and on. When it does this, all our lights in the house and even outdoor light will blink. I looked inside the unit and it makes a clicking like noise when it kicks on and this is when the lights blink. Blinks about 10-15 per hour. Thanks for any help.

The symptoms seem to be related to the main blower motor and/or it's capacitor. Turn the system off for a couple of minutes and then turn just the fan on while the thermostats heat setting is in the off position. If the lights still dim then replace the motor and capacitor. The clicking noise is the fan relay.

I have an older Goodman mini-split A/C unit, Model# MSG18HRN1W. On colder nights, at or just before freezing, in heat mode, the unit shuts itself of, and all 4 lights blink repeatedly.

It is meant to shut off when it gets so cold that the unit cannot make warm air from outside air that is too cold. When it reaches that situation, it should be switching the heating effort to the built in resistance heating. In other words, it gives up and directs that many KW of electricity go straight into heater coils, like and electrical dryer has. It is very expensive to heat this way. Most whole house heat pumps can't handle cold air. The newer mini split ductless heat pumps lower can work with outside air temperature below freezing depending on the manufacturer.

My Goodman split unit has bumping/knocking noise sometimes (not everyday) when heat first kicks on in the mornings only. What could this be? Also in defrost mode should the unit blow cold air?

May be the fan in the external unit is ruined or the internal pump is comming loose. But note that the pump also make much effort until the gas flows smoothly through the pipes .

Goodman split not responding to remote

First turn the main power off to the unit at the breaker, wait about five min. and switch the breaker back on, then see if this solves the problem. In the instalation manual that came with the unit on the last page you will see a code of the red blinking light, this will tell you the most likely problem if not solved by switching the breaker on again.............Hope this helps
