Vast posts here on black screens of deathh
the screen is 100% black and never once shows text or that HP logo. 100% dead black, then that is the screen back lamps dead
as most long ago did, go dead , just not yours.
called the CCFL lamps dead.
ok the battery out test1
the other check is the fan is the fan blowing, it must or the CPU overheats fast and (it shuts itself off, like magic (intel inside)
see slide show here for Laptop link packup causes.overheated
http://www.pcdied.com/overheated.html

my guess is it is there, below... as all do every one at 20k hours.
see flash light test. there. on test one, do that.?
see test #1 (battery out, ac pack connected and working)

http://pcdied.com/black-screen.html#Basic-basics-101

if the flash sight trick passes, (see data) ask how to fix that
or read the service manual at HP.

see the list of HP , with CCFL here. dv9000 is it.

http://pcdied.com/monitors.html

if yes, ccfl dead
see here

you get a black screen right, nothing at all then no bios, no logo, nothing at all?
Do you get any beep codes and if so in what order?
did you try different ram?
First try to plug your laptop to an external monitor. If it works, you screen is bad, if it doesn't you probably need a new motherboard.

SOURCE: HP Pavilion dv4000 battery won't charge

all you really need to do to find out if it might be broken is to check and see if that DC Jack on the computer is "wiggling" around, if the center part is moving around. If it is, then there is a chance that it is broken. I used to work at a computer store where the owner would resolder new DC power Jacks into laptops, but he was the only one in town who did that. So you might want to check around at the local computer repair or electronics stores to see if someone does that type of thing. Also, have the power supply checked out, it could just be dead.

SOURCE: Hp pavillion will not turn on, took battery out and put back in still not working. blue light around power cord on and blue lightening bolt flashes

Hi Iceprincess5

The three flashing lights indicate the battery is dead. Since it still wont power up with the cable plugged in I'd say the port has gone. Try wiggling the adapter about in the port to see if it begins to charge. If not then you would need to take it to a laptop repair centre to get a new dc port soldered on or buy a docking station.

SOURCE: My compaq laptop doesn't turn on

Hello,

At the bottom of the laptop, find and open the placing of RAM. Unplug each RAM from its bank, clean each RAM and also its bank, Plug them again in different bank. Lock your placing, now check.

Just remember to take your time and don't get nervous working on the computer. Please report back to the thread the results of your work.

SOURCE: dv9000 won't power on or charge. blue lightning bolt flashes

I just had this problem with my HP Pavilion dv9005us Notebook PC, and the problem is one of two things (that I know).

  1. Your'e Laptop's battery is completely empty, and needs to be plugged in to charge for an hour or two
  2. Or your laptop cord is broken, or isn't working properly.
For me, it was the secon problem. I went online searching for answers as to where I could buy a new cord for my Laptop. My previous one was universal, as the one that came with the notbook was chewed by my puppy. So Staples Canada, (or US) and Futureshop where the only places I could but this cord. They had the laptops on one wall, and the cords underneath them. In total, I paid $112.00, $89.99 plus tax, and $10 for an extended 2 year unlimited warranty. It sucked forking out the money, but I knew that I could trust the HP brand, and now have a working laptop.

Hope this helped (:

I have an HP Pavillion dv9000 the blue lights come on for just a sec and then nothing. It will turn on periodically and works great when it on. But that is the problem it hardly ever does. Just the blue...

This could be lots of things. so lets try the easiest.

Blow out the dust in and around the fan(s)
replace the AC power cord and/or battery.
replace hard drive
and the big one replace Motherboard (which i done once in my lifetime)*

* = most likely not it.

I have a CLT2054 and lost the power cord. I bought a new power cord but when I plug it in the light on cord goes out and TV wont come on. If I un plug cord light comes back on

You have short circuits inside the TV, the AC goes into shutdown when it senses too much current being draw. Post some pictures inside the TV if you can, wee need to look for short circuits, another thing, you bought new AC adapter with the same voltage and current rating, right?

HI, My Hp DV9000 will turn on but shuts off the

There could be a few possibilities here, first the ac adapter needs to be checked for voltage at the tip, it has to be between 18.5 and 19.5 volts. The battery is most likely dead or has dead cells which will not carry a charge. The third problem could be the motherboard. Try leaving the battery out and just run the laptop off the AC adapter....if the laptop runs fine , then the battery is bad and sending signals to the motherboard causing a shutdown. If the laptop is still shutting down or refusing to start, then there maybe a problem with the voltage resulator in the charger brick. If the battery and charging brick are in good condition, then the laptop may be getting a thermal shut down signal from the processor because of an overheating condition. The processor heats up immediately, if the laptop has been run overheating for some time, the thermal grease on the processor can be cooked off reducing the efficiency of heat bleed off, thus causing a shut down to protect the laptop from a terminal meltdown. Try using compressed air and blow out all the ventilation grills and compartment openings to clear out debris, hair and dust.
