SOURCE: We have a Toshiba 170F

Here is the desired manual for drum replacement. After you replace the drum unit you will need to reset the drum unit counter. To reset the counter follow the simple steps I suggest:
1) Press these buttons in this order: MENU, 5, 2, 0, 4, 1.
2) When the RESET DRUM COUNT ARE YOU SURE message appears, press ENTER.
3) When the COMPLETED message is displayed, press STOP to return to standby mode.

How do I reset drum error message

These machines need to have their drum units replaced every 12000 pages. If you have replaced it then it needs to have the machine reset. Normally the instructions are included in the box with the new drum unit but not many people read these.

  1. Open the front cover (Where you put the cartridge and drum unit in)
  2. Press the Back Button
  3. Display reads "Replace Drum 1. Yes 2. No"
  4. Press the number 1
  5. The display reads "Accepted"
  6. Close the Front Cover
If you have not replaced the drum unit and you reset the drum counter you will see a noticeable degradation of the printouts coming from the machine.

How to reset " replace drum" for brother MFC-7860DW

Time to really order a new drum and really replace with a new one.
Resetting the drum unit will not improve print quality. It only resets your drum and allows you to continue to print. You decide when to replace the drum unit not the manufacturer!

1.Remove the drum unit and toner cartridge. Wait 1 or 2 minutes.
2.Replace the drum unit and toner cartridge into printer.
3.The error message "Change Drum Soon/Drum end soon" will continue to appear if the drum counter was not reset when you replace the drum unit.
4.To clear this error message, you need to reset the drum counter as instructed below.
5.Make sure that the machine is turned on.
6.Press Options.
To confirm you are installing a new drum, press 1.
7.When the LCD shows Accepted, close the front cover.
8.Your drum is now reset.

When I get the warning for the drum reset on our 170F do I need to replace it right away or should I wait til it stops working? If I wait how long will it usually be?

This is an advance reminder for you to order a new drum, you do not have to replace it until it asks to do so. A drum unit is rated for 20,000 pages (5% coverage), it depends on your usage, if there lots of graphics of dark color, you have to replace it before it expires. You can reset it, if there is no quality issues. Procedures:
[x]-key to press, {{ Display on the LCD}}
[Menu], [5], {{5 Default setting}};
[2], {{2 Scanner & Printer}};
[0], [4], {{04 Reset drum counter, 1=Yes, 2=No}};
[1] {{Reset Drum Counter, are you sure?}};
[Enter].260dbb65-565d-42c9-a140-7eb3d15fb981.png

FYI: I would recommend that you put a label "Drum reset" on the drum unit, remind yourself, that you must replace it, once you have a quality issue.

Replace the developer and developer unit. And Replace the drum normally done together make sure to reset the drum developer counters because the machine use the counters to set voltages to the drum and developer and it is the only way the copier knows it has a new drum and developer reset the counters without replacing the drum and developer causes code sand image problems

Toshiba e studio 170f error message, toner not recognized

Hi,
maybe the roner cartridge you inserted is not supported by Toshiba e-Studio 170f. This may be one of the reasons that the machine can't recognize the toner cartridge.
Reinstall the toner cartridge that you have. If that doesn't fix the issue try to replace the toner cartridge with new one.
If you continue experiencing this issue contact your technical support team.

Drum light flashing in spite of new drum unit and new toner cartridge

common problem.
  • The Drum LED blinks if the drum unit is near the end of its life. Use the drum unit until you have a print quality problem, then replace the drum unit with a new one.

  • The Drum LED continues to blink if the drum counter was not reset when you replaced the drum. To reset the drum follow the instructions below:
  1. Open the front cover of the printer.
  1. Press and hold down Go button for about 4 seconds until al the LEDs light up. Once all 4 LEDs are lit, release the Go button.
  1. Close the front cover.
Caution
    Reset the drum counter only when you replaced the drum unit with a new one.
