You have to hold FN key and press the key that has Num Lock in blue written on it (usually it's F11).

I'm trying to use the num lock to input numbers, but the function doesn't work unless I have num lock activated and also have the fn key constantly pressed. How can I fix this problem? Once I activate...

On some models, pressing Fn and F4 key will disable/enable Num lock on latitude.

On some other Dell laptops, a BIOS setup menu selection must be made when turning on the laptop to enable it to work.

What is does the blue light with the 9 in a lock above the keyboard mean. and how do i turn it off. dell latitude e5510

9 in a lock light:
Turns on when the numeric keypad is enabled. Turn NumLk off by toggling the key.

You can change it in System Setup. Under Post Behavior heading.
Press to enter System Setup and make changes to user-definable settings. If you have trouble entering System Setup using this key, press when the keyboard lights first flash.

Use the checkbox to enable / disable the Num Lock LED when the system boots.

The factory default setting is Enabled.

DELL LATITUDE D620

hey
i dunno for a dell laptop but generally for laptop keyboards the extra letters on j , k , l are for numpad. i . e the combination of 8,9,0 u , i , o j , k and l ..make a numpad tht is present on the right in a normal keyboard.

i guess what must have happened in ur num lock would have been ON making the num pad ON and hence u cant access the keys j, k , l directly ..
solution would be to switch OFF num lock (to switch of num pad lock press Fn + numlock present in the f1 - f12 series ) this sould solve the problem ..
