Black spots/zoom noise

I have two black spots that I can see on the screen-they appear in the pictures, as well. I have tried wiping off the lens, and the spots are still there.

Today, out of nowhere, when I zoom in and out, the camera is making a little noise.

AH! Help! I've only had this camera for 17 months and I take care of it!

if its dirt, then it would be better to gave it serviced by an authorized sevicer. check also if the spot blinks and if it is..............its a dead pixel.(dead pixel os not a malfunction)

SOURCE: black spot in screen

Nice picture illustrates the problem very clearly. It seems to be out of focus and as it is recorded on your pics ( as I understand), it must be something in the optics. See if you can peer down the lens at the front of the camera to see it there is something trapped between the lenses. You may need a strong light to do this. Shake the camera (gently) to see if it moves.

Let me know how you get on.

cheers

Spots on the display screen

Still not clear, what you mean. But take care wham cleaning a lens. Never use a fluid like alcohol. Use a special lens pen or the soft brush on the other side of a lens pen, when you think the lens is dirty. Spots, or disk, also can appear when light is entering the lens from an angle. Even the expensive Fuji X10, had orbs or disks on the pictures in certain situations. Like dark with one or a few sharp lights close bye. Try the camera in different situations, to make sure the phenomena is in the camera or just a strange rare occasion.
When it is caused by a defect in the camera, it should show on every picture.

It's a small black spot near the bottom left. It

it sounds like a small pieces of dirt got inside the photo mechanism and may need to be clean proffesionally

I have a black smoky blur in the top right hand side of my screen, is the camera out of line, rest of the picture is crystal clear dissapears when zoom is at maximum.

It sounds like you have a spot of dust inside your lens. When you zoom to maximum, you are using the "digital zoom" in addition to the optical zoom, and so the camera isn't using the pixels that have the dust spot covering them up. It may be difficult to get the dust out on your lens without taking it apart, but try using one of the dust remover cans you can get at a hardware store. You might have to send it in or take it to a camera shop, and they may have better ways to get it cleaned out. It could also just be a spot on the surface of the lens, which you can clean with a lens cleaning cloth. Post a comment with your rating if this doesn't help, and maybe you can post a picture that shows the defect. That would make it easier to see what exactly is happening.

Spot showing on pictures and can be seen through viewfinder. Lens appears to be clean on outside.

Could be a pixel out on the CCD (part that records the picture) or a bit of grit, turn digital zoom on, zoom till digital zoom is just enabled (first marker), then take a picture of white wall/paper, digital zoom fully, take another picture. If the spot has moved then it is the CCD, if it hasn't then it's in the lens. If it's in the lens, take white pictures but give the unit a gentle tap between pics, if it moves it's a piece of grit. Either way it will need to go for servicing. A faulty pixel can be "remapped".

Lens problem, no zooming capabilities and blurry images

This would need to be serviced something is wrong with the auto focus and this is inside the lens housing. I would take it into a camera shop and have the examin the autofocus.

White Spot

If this white spot is always exactly the same, but moves off the picture when you start to digital zoom and not optical zoom, there is probably something on the sensor. You mentioned that when zooming, eventually it moves. Are you in digital zoom mode at that time? (The switchover from optical to digital zoom is automatic, but you can disable it). Is this white spot blurry or sharp? Can you see fringes of the image at the edges? (This would suggest something on the lens).
If there is a piece of dust inside the lens ,you may be able to see it looking down the lens. How big is this spot?
Either way, if the camera is new, can you still return it?

Black spot on picture

My Nikon was having the same problem with the stationary black spot. I used a can of Dust Off ( the original compressed gas duster). I just removed the lens and held the camera upside down (lens facing the floor) and blew my compressed air inside and my black spot disappeared. Just a thought you might like to know !! Good luck.
