Download USB MIDI driver for yamaha from yamaha website, and install to laptop.
Next:
Make sure the POWER switch on the instrument is set to OFF,then use an AB type USB cable to connect the instrument to the laptop.
After making the connections, turn on the power of the instrument.
Laptop will immediately notify that new hardwares is connecting and automatically install the drivers. Wait until the process is finish.
Thats all. In Ableton, the setting MIDI input must be set to USB MIDI.
I have a PSR-E323 and to connect it with my pc using a MIDI connector should i install driver from http://download.yamaha.com/usb_midi/
??? I tried to install that.. An error msg popped up... error 25001 no
device is connected. connect a device and try again. If the "found new
hardware" wizard appears push the cancel button...What should I do??
Help me pls...
You can connect it with USB connection to your computer. It should be plug and play, but some drivers might be required.
You can connect it also via MIDI interface:
- you will need sound-card with MIDI input connector, or you can use special MIDI device like M-Audio UNO.
Yes. You will need to have a MIDI interface on your OC and also select in the sounds control panel of windows that you are using the external synth. The MIDI will expect the PSR to respond to the "general MIDI" assignments.
Sorry to bring the bad news but the PSR300 does NOT have a connection for a sustain pedal.
It will however recognize a MIDI command for sustain so if you had a MIDI sustain pedal that emitted controller 64 code, you could use that.
It is UNLIKELY you would want to do this as such devices are not readily availablle. If you slaved this from another synth that had a sustain pedla capabilty you could play booth together and use the sustain of the other synth.
