The high pitch noise is the color wheel that needs replace the noise is coming from a bad bushing that goes to the color wheel and is a common problem.

Look at turn on to see if lamp fires even for a second.
If lamp has not been replaced in 2,000 hrs it is a suspect.
If you heard a high pitched whine or fan like noise before the set failed remove the lamp and look where it faces----is the color wheel shattered or missing pieces?

Color Wheelno the fans will not produce a high pitched noise. they will ususally produce a dull noise because they dont spin anywhere near as fast as the color wheel. the color wheel will start up before you see video and stay on for few moments after power down. if the fans were faulty the tv would give you message on screen.
If the noise is a high pitched whine or even a grinding sound you may have a bad color wheel.
These fail quite often in these sets although it is unusual for a lamp to be associated with it. Put old lamp back and see if same problem. (unless old lamp is shattered)
If it is the color wheel I can tell you how to look at it to see if shattered without taking the set completely apart.
