The red stone on the winder on the right of the watch is chipped and needs replacing. Can this be done and what is the cost? i would prefer to take the watch somewhere then send it off?
Thanks
Haley

You have selected a wonderful watch... Heuer and TAG/Heuer should be gently wound by the motion of the human wrist and the falling of a centrally pivoting weight (there is no ideal direction).
AUTO-WIND function is NOT at all unique to your watch...
After a couple of CHEAPER "winders" failed me... and after I figured about 4 watches was more than enough to keep wound... I found the greatest BASIC watch winder... to run year over year (efficiently and quietly)
MTE watch winder (their very basic WTS-4).
Good luck: I WILL try to include the URL (see page 6)
What has been the issue when the repairs have been done? My experience with Tanks is that any reputable watch shop will replace the battery for $20. I don't know why it has cost you so much, but if the model you have is an auto-winder, then there is no way to retrofit a battery - although for $600 someone may be able to change the internal watch out completely.
Unscrew crown pullout 2 stepsturn hands around till the date changes .this will indicate to you it is midnight .turn ands around to right time.if you are setting this in the afternoon remember to go past the 12.When this is done push winder in 1 step and turn winder clockwise or anti cclocwise and this will let you set day or date. When you finish push winder back in and lock down.
Pull out winder 1 step and us the push buttons to adjust hands to 12 o.clock . when you have done this pull winder right out and use push buttons to set other hands then push winder back in.
mcdevito75, Best Bet with your Chrono watch is, check out a small watch repair shop in your area for that btton and replacement. A smaller watch repair shop may save you some money on costs.
The watch should start when the winder is returned home position.
If pressing the winder does not cause the watch to start it could be that the winder may need to be screwed in (some watches include this as an additional feature to improve water resistance). Turn the winder to the right.
The wacth should now start. if it still does not start, I suggest you find your nearest dealer in your area and speak to them about it.
The watch should last 36 hours from fully wound. If your wearing the watch and using a watch winder and its still stopping, you have a problem with the mechanism. Get it serviced. (its probably just a clean and oil req'd)
